Post subject:  Some ideas for new models....just in time for Baselworld!

I haven't done a bit of Photoshop for a while, but I was messing around with it tonight, so I just thought I'd do a couple of very quick mock-ups of Breitlings that I'd love to see made (...and am secretly hoping to see at Baselworld. Yeah right!) -

Firstly, this is a B01 equipped, 43mm Avenger II (with a bit of vintage lume).... which is a model I think they should make IMMEDIATELY! -

And here's the same one but without my personal pet hate - the dreaded 4:30 date window. Looks so much cleaner IMO -

Secondly here's a Navi that I'd LOVE to see. A 43mm Navitimer B01 with black subdials, gold markers and handset. It's got a nice vintage vibe to it -

And here it is again on the black Croco. Lovely looking thing IMO -

And lastly, I just thought I'd see how superb the current Cosmonaute would look without a date window at all. I love the look of the Cossie, but I just cannot stand how the window cuts into the "10". Without the date it just looks a million times better IMO. I so wish Breitling would make a few B01's without the date (or at the very least put it a 6 o'clock within the subdial) -

Those Navitimers look awesome , good work :)

Hopefully we get a ceramic bezel stainless Diver this time around , no black steel :)

It'll be interesting to see if they start putting the B01 into the Avenger series

I think all those mock-ups look great! I really like the all-black navitimer. I like the idea of the 01 movement in the Avenger, but I would prefer it with the sub dials at 6, 9 and 12 and the date at 3 like the current layout. That way it would at least stay a little more different then the chronomat series.

Driver8, your Photoshop Breitlings are always awesome, I really like the Navi. I think Breitling could make the 4:30 date wheel look more contemporary if they just turned it through 45 degrees so it and the font aligned with the rest of the dial. You still wouldn't like it of course :-)

Thanks for the kind words gents - I appreciate it.

I have to say, both the Avenger and Navi would be instant buys for me

Cheers Roff, and I actually totally agree with you on the 45 degree turned/aligned date wheel : it would be much more palatable to me, because at the moment it just looks like an after-thought. The funny thing is (and I know you know this already) Breitling used to use a vertically aligned date wheel on a couple of their older models back in the 70's if I recall correctly.

I can just about deal with the 4:30 date position as long as a) it has a matching background colour to the dial, b) it has no massive shiny boarder round it, c) it doesn't cut off any numbers or markers on the dial, and d) if it's only used on tricompax chronos - there's absolutely no need for it on any other dial layout. The Airborne for example looks great IMO apart from the boarder round the date that really draws your eye to it. I always think 4:30 dates should be as unobtrusive as possible : there when you want it, but hidden in the background when you don't.

The absolute worst crime against dial-design IMO is the 4:30 date on 3 handers! HIDEOUS!!!!! And even amazing brands like Blancpain can cock-up at times. For example - http://www.watch-insider.com/news/basel ... n-of-love/

Great pics driver. I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the design team gets fired and they bring you in house.

Wow, Driver8 -- some mad PhotoShop skills there! Well done!

The Navis look great, and I am completely with you on losing the date on the Cossie.

I know that people seem to like the idea of a B01 Avenger II, but isn't this essentially the same thing as putting the Avenger II bezel on a Chronomat? Seems to me that the key point to the Avenger in terms of marketing is that it provides something at a lower price point. So, I'm not sure there's much incentive to add the B01 to the Avenger line.

Oh no, at Driver8's pay grade prices would sky rocket.

Still waiting for a Navitimer with white (lumed) arabic indices, B01 or B13 movement, :) .

I would love it if the suits at Breitling (here's looking at you, design+marketing) would simply go back to the 'old style' bezels with the rider tabs on the Chronomat line. Aside from that - and we can probably all agree that's not a change that's worth losing sleep in anticipation over - I'd settle for something of a Legende with the in-house movement, two tone.

Also would very much appreciate a two-tone bracelet for my Navi 01 46 w/gold bezel.

Get rid of ALL rubber in bezels on all model lines. ALL of it. It cheapens the brand and looks like absolute trash. Replace it with ceramics, stainless steel...whatever. Just no more vulcanized timepieces please. Ditto the neon colors on the Superocean chrono line.

And please, please, PLEASE stop with the blacksteelizing!

I would like to see Breitlight make its way into the Chronomat line, and I would love to see some of the surrender black steel Chronomat offerings get a DLC pilot bracelet option!

I'd love to see a BEB-dial Chronomat 41 with:

- day-date feature (big date) or:
- simple full calendar (big date again)
- central 60-minute chrono counter like on the Lemania 5100 etc.
- fly-back feature
- improved escapement (NOT quite Chronoworks!): balance bridge, silicone parts, direct fine adjust on balance, free balance spring, way enhanced antimagnetism
- white small hands instead of polished
- bezel with minutely markers (like on Airborne) but no protruding rider tab at 60, with coin-edge between rider tabs, steel, with or without ceramic inlay
- double-pusher clasp of the Ocean Racer applied to the Pilot bracelet

All that for a proportionate price...

I am very eager to see what's announced.
A dark Avenger II/SAII would really scratch my itch.
