Hi, just picked up my watch from local jewellers after ten weeks at Breitling. The watch does look like new but I just wondered if it was normal for the watch to not be returned in a Breitling case ( it was in a plastic bag!! The jewellers put it in their own case) Also the only paperwork I got was a receipt from the jewellers, I was expecting some kind of official Breitling documents.
Thanks.

Nice watch! I have had well over a dozen Breitlings serviced by BUSA over the years. I have never gotten one back that was not packaged in a Breitling branded service case. I think that I probably have every version of service case used in the last decade. Can't imagine how it got to you from BUSA without one, unless someone at your jewelers decided that he or she had a better use for the service case.

If it was BUSA, OP hasn't old us where he is or which service centre and policies vary.

I would expect a Breitling service case and full paperwork from BUK detailing what work had been done. I think you need to have words with your jewellers.

One of the Jewellers I used to use (who is a major Breitling dealer) would return watches in their own el-cheapo velveteen pouches. When I asked that they should come in the proper Breitling case, they feigned surprise and ignorance. However, the last time I needed my SAII sent back, I used Goldsmiths, and sure enough, it came back in a proper Breitling service case. I emailed BUK and they told me that ALL of their watches are sent back in the cases.

I can only assume that as they have a value on eBay, someone is hanging on to them and perhaps selling them on - £15 a pop is a nice little earner isn't it?

My B50 sent away for warranty came back in a Black Breitling zipped travel case. Which I was told I could keep.

I have always sent my Breitlings direct to BUK for servicing (i.e. missing out the jewellers) and they ALWAYS come back in the zipped Breitling travelcase.

Within past 6 months I have sent my two Avengers to B's service center and as the shipping instruction clearly states not to send any OEM boxes/tavel cases, I placed small bubble wrap as "wrist" inside the bracelet and then wrapped the watch to another bubble wrap large enough to fill the interior of thick cardboard box.

1st Avenger (M1) was returned with B's shipping cardboard box and black zipped travel case. I found issue with the watch so I used the B's cardboardbox and again wrapped the watch to bubble wrap. Watch was fixed again under service warranty and returned to me with black zipped case (second case).

I re-used the B's cardboard shipping box when I sent the 2nd Avenger (Seawolf) to service few months later and after service work it was returned in B's cardboard box with black zipped case (third case).

Each return shipment included black zipped case, printout from work done (item description, item code, cost) and my international warranty card.

So if OP didn't receive the travel case then I would go back to AD and politely ask to have it. If AD doesn't give it to you then don't bother arguing, rather go home and go web to find the B's service center in your country and write them email, politely asking why XXX serial number that was recently serviced there, didn't have travel case when it was returned and let them know you have spoke with your AD and they refuse to give the case to you.

If your jeweller is not AD then I would call B's service center to verify it was serviced by them and if serviced by them then explain the situation and politely ask if they would be kind enough to send the travel case.

I spoke to the jewellers who advised that they "preferred to keep all papers and deal with breitling on my behalf" they gave me the paperwork and zipped breitling case once I asked for it. Think they were trying it on so thanks for all your advice .

"Preferred to keep all papers"... right. That's like "preferring" to keep the receipt after selling you a watch. Very poor. Glad that you're sorted.

Yeah, sounds pretty shady to me. I bet if you checked the jeweler's eBay store you'd find a few travel cases for sale. Lol
