I just wanted to provide an update about servicing in case anyone is planning to send a B01-powered watch off to BUK. I've had my Navi 01 for 5 years now, so it was time to send her back to the mothership. I dropped my watch off at an AD in late July and it came back just over 3 months later. I really think BUK needs to hire a few more watchmakers, as 12.5 weeks seems excessive, although I know it's pretty standard across the board.

It came back in perfect condition, although it was pretty immaculate when it left. I was hoping BUK would throw in a new croc strap for me, but alas, my old dirty one came back to me.

The total cost was £650. Still can't believe it took so damn long.

Personally I feel 5 years is way too early to service, the B01 should be good for at least 10 years.

It ultimately comes down to the oils, not the movement itself. The current oils used need to be replaced after about 5 years. I don't know of any watch manufacturer that has a much longer routine servicing period that this, but others please chime in if you know of different examples.

Correct, although this thread - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58137 would suggest that doesn't matter. The only exception are going to be the silicon based material advancements that may ultimately eliminate the need for oils.

Well, the obvious example is Rolex, who recently announced ten-year service intervals:

Rolex clarified that though, they do not have a 10 year service window, they have a 10 year FIRST service window and then 5 years thereafter. I would love to know what lubrication they are using during manufacture that allows that initial extension but it appears to be a manufacture only thing.

Yes indeed, first service only. I do (also) find that a bit strange and illogical. Of course a given Rolex might have been sat for a year or two before being sold, so a first service might end up being at 12 or so years, which is a scary thought to the risk-averse.

Yes that's a ridiculous amount of time, did it go in for the two maintenance services?

No, it did not. I was not eligible for the 5-year warranty, as I was an early adopter of the B01 movement and bought the Navi 01 when it first came out in Oct 2010. The extended warranty wasn't offered until 2012, I think.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. Breitling should have honored this for any B01 movement, but I think they were well aware of the chronic issues that plagued the first couple years of B01 movements. I have a Chronomat bought in July 2009 that still has the same chronograph issue even after going back to BUSA four times!

Hmm yes agree all the B01's should have had the same warranty, although my B01 Chronomat was bought this year, the case indicated it was manufactured in 2011 so mine could well have Chronograph issues, I never use it so wouldn't know! Image

What is the chronograph issue? Also, if you think Breitling takes a long time do not buy a Lang. Those people would think three months was just a dream.
Be safe, Frank.
