Hello all!

I own a Navitimer 2100 Quartz my father purchased in 1980. Unfortunately it no longer works and Breitling says they are unable to fix it. They are offering g a 30% discount on any model or 50% on an aerospace Evo (which I am not interested in).
What do you think? I would like a Navitimer world or GMT with a steel bracelet. Good deal or buy a new Navitimer from a different dealer at a lower price? Thoughts, suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Go to a dealer and try some on and pic the one you like most, sounds like a good deal. GOOD LUCK

30% off is probably the best you could do at any AD... Smart move by the boutique. Maybe try and see if they would toss in a leather / deployment also, can't hurt to ask.
And you de ef can't go wrong with the Nav world, stunning piece.
Let us know what you decide.

I had a much loved Intruder (quartz) that failed in 2013 after years of hard use. When it failed, BUSA similarly said it couldn't be repaired and offered 30% off any current cataloged watch except select pieces like rose gold cases. The deal was directly with BUSA, not through an AD for existing store stock and the watch had to be surrendered to BUSA - no parting it out or keeping for donor movement repair. I considered it fair enough and went with it rather than sourcing a non-Breitling replacement movement.

If the watch has heritage value to you, then consider trying to source a replacement movement recognizing the challenges and risks. If not, then grab the 30% and enjoy your new Breitling at a nice discount.

..... "and Breitling says they are unable to fix it." .....

If you replace 'unable' by 'unwilling' then you are probably rather close to the truth. Any watch repair shop around next corner can and will repair a quartz movement for less than 100 $. Give it a try and ask. Good luck.

Not a 35 year old quartz movement they can't. Best they'll do is find another 35 year old donor movement.

Don't even think of considering the 01 movement in the gmt over the 7750 in the world. The 7750 will not give you any trouble. Enjoy it.

Good if yours has been mint but there are still running issues even with newer production stock. But the entire design is not bad but only a little more ironing req. 5 year warranty is the only reason the in house movement is dependable now, IMO. Ironically, the B50 had more issues than others but carries only 2-years with it. Anyways, when the watch is new its a pain sending to the brand and waiting and waiting and waiting...

enjoy your world...it's a classic for sure.

How can that possibly make any sense. Warranty has absolutely nothing to do with dependability, just repair if it proves not to be dependable. The B01 early design issues are far behind Breitling and the in house movement is far superior to ETA movements, especially a movement like the 7750 that is getting on for 50 years old.

Hi there,

Thanks for your opinion. They may be superior in some way but I've had my ghastly experiences of the B50 and the chronomat 44 jet team LE both not more than 3-4 months old. There are still issues, which are fine and possible with any device or tech but such things happening right out of the box is unnerving and disappointing and a mix of couple of other emotions too, especially if you love the timepieces!

This is just my 2 cents but due to my own experiences, I'll take some time before I can pull the trigger on in house movement. That said, I still placed an order for my second B50 LE in yellow dial. Irony, yes! But I love the model and couldn't stop myself from ordering it hoping that they've ironed out the issues.
Let's c!

Well, wrt the older ETA movements, I disagree a bit. They may be old but have not lost sleep right after purchase and am still enjoying with ZERO issues. I've not needed the 2-yr warranties for ETA movements but needed the warranty for in house twice right out of the box. Too much of a coincidence So, to each their own 8) I just love the brand so much that I want the niggles ironed out.

Pardon me if I have a different opinion but they still need to iron out QC issues especially after the chronomat 44 jet team watch chronograph issue right out of the box! No excuses for faulty chronograph from breitling for being the inventor of the chronograph :guns:

anyways, I'm truly hoping I can pull the trigger on a B01 someday.

Mentioned as a software issue by a few and possibly a movement/crown (mechanical) issue by a few...

But I've just received my B50 night mission LE in yellow dial today. It's super and working perfectly including crown, turn and response, battery etc. Its proof that is all sorted now.
