...your AD doesn't have the Breitling you're interested in purchasing? My AD doesn't have a large selection and currently does not carry the watch that has my interest: a Montbrillant Datora. Before I would have the AD order it for me, I'd like to try it on once more. The last time I was able to try one on was during a cruise that stopped in Grand Cayman. That was about 7 months ago. I'm just a little nervous about spending the $$$ before trying it on once more.

What do you guys do in this situation?

Thanks,
E

I ask my AD to get it in on approval. If I like it I buy it, otherwise I don't. I have had no problems with that approach, but I'm not sure how easy it is for smaller independent ADs to do that - i.e. not sure if they have to pay for the watch to come in to stock or whether they can return to the distributor if not sold.

Find the nearest AD and make a day-trip out of it. If you're going to spend the money on the watch, you might as well make sure you like it so spending a few hours, if that's what it would take, isn't that big of a deal.

My AD can order it for me to look at as well. They are an independent dealer.

Exactly what I do. In the past they've been happy to get two of the same watch but with different dial colours for me to decide which.

Since you already know what you want you can order it from another AD or even take part in the group buy ;)

I agree completely. Ask your AD to get the model(s) you want to look at from the distributor. That should be done without any commitments - if your AD isn't willing to do that for you, you should probably change AD. My AD has brought several models to the store for me, especially at times when I couldn't decide. When I decided between a Navi World and a Montbrillant Legende he brought home both of them, both in black and white - totally 4 watches just for me to look at.
