Hi,

It's been over 5 months since my breitling's full service. I'm still a little concerned about its erratic timekeeping. It seems to settle down nicely to +/- 2 to 3 seconds a day for about 10 days. Then it loses about 5 to 6 secs daily. Then gains abt. 5 secs. For the past couple of weeks it reverts to +/-2 to 3 secs. Three days ago it has started gaining abt. 5 secs daily.

I'm still not sure if this is normal or should I return the watch to be rechecked.

Thanks,

Poet :?

I would return it. Had an omega seamaster recently with erratic timing. Turned out to be a damaged canon pinion. No amount of rechecking was ever going to help so ordered a new one. Job done. It may not be the same for you but timing should be a little more stable and consistent than you are measuring. Can only think its a mechanical issue.

Not sure why "timing should be a little more stable and consistent than you are measuring". Look at any Watch Time review of a mechanical watch and you will see daily errors in this range or greater simply because of different positions and / or different power reserves. Add in additional factors like temperature, humidity, movement, etc and the rate is going to vary. All of the reported figures are within COSC so the watch is performing as it is warranted to do, no grounds for it to be sent back.

Measuring a mechanical watch on a 24 hour basis and expecting consistency is simply not realistic.
