hey guys..i am new to the forum and new to Breitlings...planning on purchasing a BREITLING AEROMARINE SUPEROCEAN STEELFISH X PLUS ...whats the best place to buy online in regards to price, service etc ??
Also, how big are these? I am a fairly big guy and want a watch that wont look to small on my wrist, but a Nav is a bit to much $$$ for me.

Hi, I moved your post into the Breitling section as the Buy/Sell section is for people to sell watches.

Anyway, welcome aboard!

Unfortunately the Steelfish is a watch that has been very successfully faked, so you would generally be advised to steer clear of any "paperless wonders" you may find on eBay. If you don't fancy paying the AD premium, then your best bet for on-line retailers are www.interwatches.com, www.prestigetime.com, www.jomashop.com or (if you are US based) www.authenticwatches.com. They all sell 100% genuine goods, but check out the feedback forum for peoples experiences of these retailers. The only thing to be really careful of is the warranty as in most cases, these retailers remove the Breitling warranty and replace it with one of their own, meaning you can't get the watch fixed under warranty at Breitling. Jomashop will also remove the Chronometer certificate too for some reason. All of which can affect the resale value. Additionally Authentic watches sell some watches without serial numbers - avoid these like the plague as Breitling will not touch them even if you are paying, and most people will avoid watches like that on the 2nd hand market too. In my opinion a serial number-less watch is worthless unless you are going to keep it forever........ and never get it serviced by Breitling! :roll:

Hope this gives you a start, but as this subject has been covered a few times in the past, do a search on the forum and you should find all the info you need.

In terms of size of the Steelfish - it's pretty much mid-range by Breitling standards, but on the large size compared to most brands. The only way to see if it suits you is to try one on I'm afraid. What seems too big for some may be too large for others. It's all just personal taste.

You should heed the words of Driver8 -- he knows what
he's talking about... usually. :wink: Seriously, don't fool around
with grey market watches. Go to an AD; you can usually get
a decent discount, even if it means driving a ways to find a dealer.
The Fish is a tremendous value for the money -- if you have to save
up for it, do it. You won't regret waiting a while, believe me.

As to size, I have an enormous wrist (nearly 10 inches, but I'm dieting :) )
and my Steelfish fits it perfectly. Good luck and let us know how it
works out.

Yes, a surprisingly helpful post by Driver 8 - obviously held off the alcohol a little longer today :wink:

Not sure whereabouts in North America you are, but In2Deep's group buy may be able to get you close to grey market prices if you are in the US, and if you are in Canada feel free to PM me and I may be able to line you up with a contact or two.

Steve is quite right - an AD is always your best bet..... but here in the UK we don't tend to get much in the way of discounts, so I tend to forget that in many cases (especially Stateside) AD's can sometimes offer better price deals that online retailers.

And BTW, the Steelfish is 44mm in diameter. To give you some idea of comparison, the "large size" Omega Seamaster (the classic "James Bond" version) is around the 41mm mark.

steelfish is 44mm right guys? it might be small for you if you want a big breitling style watch.. best thing to do is go to an AD and try some on! you can also go second hand for a good price on this forum or on timezone/watchuseek.. i would definitely recommend getting something bigger! i think the right word is... FULL LING?

I am new here too and I'm interested in buying my first Breitling. I found the Aeromarine Colt Quarts at:

for only USD 1009. This is at least 600 dollars cheaper than anywhere else I've been able to find.

They assured me that they sell authentic watches (no fakes) with international warranties. The only thing is they don't accept credit cards only money transfers through Western Union.

Do you guys think it's legitimate?

Welcome.

The best way to get attention is of course to start your own topic, more people will see it then.

As for all online / grey market dealers I would be very careful and insure that you would get the watch, intact with serial numbers, COSC, warranty card and all the boxes. If they take something of the mentioned out I'd make an estimation of what I think the particular item is worth. For example: for me, removed serial numbers would take all the value off the watch - I wouldn't buy it no matter the discount. Lack of warranty - I can accept that for $500 less (approximately a service cost that I maybe need to pay during the normal warranty period), so add $500 and then see if you still think it is a good deal.

Their money handling however troubles me. Why won't they accept credit cards? I fthey don't why not accept bank wire? Western Union is rather anonymous and you are better protected with a bank wire. If Western Union is all they accept, I'd stay clear.

Thats gotta be BS. Retail for that watch is almost $2500. I think dealer cost is probably more than they claim to be selling it for. Only buy from them if you wont be upset when nothing shows up in the mail :lol:

If it sounds too good to be true...
