Is this really true?? The reason I ask is that I had my TAG for over 10 years and I always rinsed it during my shower and never had a problem and it looked brand new until I began to wear my Ling. My TAG was serviced only last year and I was told by TAG Servicing just how well I had looked after my watch............. |

Rinsing is fine, but constant prolonged use in hot water, or hot environments like saunas and steam rooms, will definitely shorten the lifespan of your watch's gaskets. |

Ohhh O'K, I'm lucky then cause I dont wear it in a sauna or things like that and dont take very hot showers either. So, Im assuming then that warm showers are O'K..........?? By the way, what is the gasket? cheers |

So, Im assuming then that warm showers are O'K..........?? By the way, what is the gasket? cheers The gaskets are the thin rubber seals that go between the case-back and the case to ensure water resistance. There are also gaskets around the crown and push-pieces of water resistant models. |

For me, that depends of which watch I'm wearing. Some of them are left on in the shower, some aren't. |

Sorry for that little messup. I think you've got the right idea. In fact, I think some of us treat our Breitlings a little too delicately. I wore my Rolex Sub in showers, saunas, pools, lakes and oceans for over 20 years with no problems, just routine service. I'm treating my Omega PO and Breitlings the same way -- although I've had the Lings only a couple years...so I'll get back with you in about 18 years, let you know if they're as rugged as the Rolex. ![]() Steve |

No way, no how, not a chance. For one thing, it would be more work if I wore it while showering because of the additional time spent cleaning and drying afterwords. Plus, there would be the paraonia factor of potential scuffs and scratches as showers in general are small, tile lined, and contain metal frame linings (at least, mine does) and the act of showering has lots of body movement. Freaks me out just thinking about it ![]() |

Paranoia is a terrible thing. But since I started taking Wellbutrin, mine's well under control. Maybe that's why I can wear my watch in the shower (not all the time) and not worry about it. ![]() My point was that if you want to wear your watch in the shower, do it -- and don't worry that you're going to damage it. Just keep the crown screwed down! Steve |

Wow, I’d of thought most of you guys would have treated your Breitlings a bit more robustly. Especially the Professional line. I wore my Blackbird (classic) everywhere while I was in the Army. I ran, swam, showered, shot, jumped out airplanes with it and it never failed me. I bought it just before a deployment to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and wore it over an 8-year period before I retired. The only time I took it off was when I slept at home and that’s only because I knocked myself in the head with it a few times too many. I have to think if you have a screw down crown you’ll be OK. If your worried about seals and gaskets being affected by soap than I would submit the watch is not sealed properly, not waterproof and would surly fail a pressure test. Come on guys…stop babying your Breitlings…they can take it! ![]() Carlos |
