Hi - Does anyone know if Breitling watchmaking family is related to Breting watchmakers? I believe that Breting clan started in Le Locle Switzerland.

Thanks, Mark

There is no connection. There are actually a number of arms of the Breting family that were involved in watchmaking around Le Locle. The most well known are Auguste who died in 1889 and whose company was acquired by Bossert & Jacot and Ulysse who just seemed to disappear - maybe no sons to take over?

Thanks for quick response. I know that a Henri A. Breting (my great grandfather) immigrated to US in late 1800s. I am not clear on if Auguste was father/brother and Ulysse was a sibling.
