Hi. My beautiful Fiance just brought me the best engagement present ever. A superocean heritige chrono blue dial. I am looking for a good aftermarket non deployant strap choice that will suit the blue dial and fit over a drysuit at work or just my bare wrist at play. Any ideas or pics would be greatly appreciated. Regards. |

OK, so over a drysuit will mean you need a water-proof strap, so in that case I'd recommend an Isofrane. They have a superb reputation for comfort and the retro style will suit the SOHC down to the ground. Not the cheapest, but still not too bad, especially considering the quality. http://www.isofrane.com/ One thing though - you may find the SOHC a little too "dressy" for hardcore underwater work..... |

I thought that the SOHC is only rated for swimming / snorkeling as the rating is 200 meters... http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles ... ance.shtml ATM Feet Metres Usage 1 33 10 Showerproof or splashproof. Protected against accidental exposure to water. 3 100 30 Will withstand splashes or brief emersion in water, but is not suitable for swimming. 5 165 50 Suitable for swimming. 10 330 100 Suitable for swimming and snorkeling. 15 500 150 Suitable for snorkeling. 30+ 1000+ 300+ Suitable for skin diving. |

Bigger problem for diving is that it doesn't have a bezel pearl. @OP It's a great gift from your fianceee, but the SOHC is not really qualified to be a serious dive watch if that is what you are looking for. |

Ahhhh thanks, so you can be sure to come up at the correct time. I know the purpose of the unidirectional bezel but never gave a thought to the possible dark / murky conditions possible in some dives. I don't dive, so didn't know. |

Also, the lack of numbers on the bezel diminishes its practicality even under non-dive circumstances. Because the orientation of the bezel is going to be different from a standard watch face most times it is being used, the numbers really help you know at a glance how much time has elapsed. Without numbers, I would anticipate having to take extra time to count the indices. That said, I'm becoming increasingly fond of the SOH 42, and of the mesh bracelet. As I said in another thread, I think the SOH is the one Breitling model that works on the mesh, since it's a throwback to the 1950s model. It's also somewhat baffling to compare the classic simplicity of the SOH to the gaudiness of so many other Breitling models - especially the standard SOs. Breitling's design team is a real Jekyl and Hyde group. |
