Hi,
I was googling my watch. I have a older Chronomat GT with a white dial. I really like it and it's usually my default watch. But anyway, it seems to be pretty rare so I usually don't find many pictures or reviews about it, but this review came from last year.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f67/breitl ... 07340.html

It's from another site so I hope it's ok. It's the exact same watch as mine, but it indicates that it has a MOP dial. This is news to me, and I can't really see how it could be true. Mind you, I've never have a MOP dial before.

What do you think? Is it MOP? The dial is a slightly warmer white then the tachometer ring?

Thanks

Does your watch have the irregular color variations on the dial? Light blues-pinks-greens
that shift in the light? If so It's MOP.

Hi,
No none of that. That's what I figured it would look like. Mine is the same as the pics in the review I linked to. And I can't see that in those either.

Mine is the gold/steel version with gold/steel bracelet with MOP dial. It is indescribably beautiful, got it in 1999 and still blown away about how stunning it is. In fact I'm wearing it at the moment so I'm in an ideal position to comment!

The watch in the pics appears to have MOP on the subdials but the main dial looks silver which is a bit odd; if the subdials are MOP then the main dial should be also. As mentionned on here the MOP will be obvious when you move the watch at different angles in light.

Hi,
I don't think mine is MOP. I don't see any of those colors. It doesn't really matter to me, I still love this watch (wearing now as well). I was just curious when I read that review.

Does the one in the review look like MOP?

Thanks.

subdials definitely do look like they are MOP , rest of the dial I cant really see, but MOP is really hard to photograph

Hmmm... When I look at only the subdials and move it around it changes from whitish silver to sort of pinkish.... Maybe that's what the reviewer meant? :)

There was a MOP version of that watch, but less common. MOP is obvious when you look at it (although as noted, hard to photo), if yours doesn't look like MOP then it's not MOP.

The subdials are definitely MOP but I'm not sure about the main dial.

The whole dial is MOP. The mottled texture gives it away. The lighting in the pics is pretty flat, so it's not doing a good job of showing off the colors.

It might be the same basic model, but it's completely possible for you to have a standard silver dial, while the other watch has a MOP dial. The two watches will otherwise look identical. But as Roff said, if your watch has a MOP dial, you would know it. If you're looking at it and wondering, it's not MOP. Despite the fact it does not photograph well, in person the effect is obvious.

This video helps to show the effect better, although the lighting is still pretty flat.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I dont think I have the mop. Looks like just the sliver dial. Not really a problem. It's still my favorite to date. But I was curious after seeing that review.

Cheers
