This is a question for the owners of a Breitling Blacksteel watch (any I think). I was wondering how fast does it show usage marks? Lucas |

If the material used in the PVD process is DLC (Diamond-like-carbon), it should be very resistant to scratches. |

Thanks Sharkman. Which Breitling blacksteel watches are made from this material? |

I once read the Seawolf Chrono BS was actually blackened steel all the way through - don't know if this is accurate. But the Blackbird, SA, and AS are definitely DLC. |

No, all blacksteel models are just surface coating (albeit very tough surface coatings). There was much speculation when they first came along about whether the black went all the way through, but they are all surface coating. |

I owned a SA Blacksteel for two years, and it showed no wear on the blacksteel at all. Great stuff! |

My friend Wears it all the time! He did just get it serviced, but it had nothing to do with the wear on the blacksteel. Hot watch! |

Well I'm going to disagree. I have an Avenger Skyland Blacksteel and have noticed wear on the edges of the rider tabs, it's not much, but it's definitely there. Additionally, if you ding the watch enough to 'reshape' the metal, because DLC is only a surface coating it may well show the bare metal through. |
