Post subject:  ABD No More. WTF...

My local ABD has droped their Breitling dealership :whiner: From information I know many factors were involved in the decision for them to hand back their AD status. Reasons sited included the the starting price was to high for any "starter" buyer compared to other brands "Breitling's start at 2.5k E and any thing any one really wants starts at 4.5k E" huge recurring costs regarding service equipment and training, large amounts of cash tied up in non moving stock, The need to retain high levels of stock. Another and one of the main major reasons for the drop was the complete lack of negotiation on any issue/concern the dealer had regarding their requests. I know the recession here has to play a part in it but come on.
I am one but there are many and this is another blow in my mind to the brand that is Breilting. Simply put the next time I go to buy a new watch in my local High end deal, Breilting is literally not going to be a option for me.

Come on Breilting get with the program.

I was in town yesterday and went for a look at the AD and found they were no longer selling Breitling either.

They still stock Cartier, Patek and Rolex so there's money around for high end watches but I guess Breitling are no longer seen as good value.

I know Busa is closing 30 b for b doors, they are keeping the regular Breitling, but no bentley.
Cartier went from 300 dealers to 130 in 2 years and will be below 100 in the next 6 months. Lots of brands are trying to make their stuff more exclusive, and get it in the right doors where it isn't transshipped and whored out. If a dealer doesn't have the brand anymore, it's probably their fault. I'd blame the dealer, not the brand.

I know Ireland must be a small market in the grand picture but the country as a whole has only 3 ABDs with 5 outlets. In the last 2 years 3 AB outlets have closed their dealership.

They tend to sell for over their RRP. I bought two lings in Northern Ireland for a far better price. Also the Dublin AD's were sticking 10% on the RRP and then offering 10% off, I'm not surprised they weren't selling well.

If that's true then it's a breach of their contract with Breitling and Breitling would likely terminate the agreement. ADs are absolutely forbidden from selling over list.

FEAR what do you think will happen to the B4B line? do you think they will eventually just end up in the high volume Dealers and the boutiques? this is the line that brought me into breitling.

I think they already are in high volume dealers. Seems I've read a couple times here that an AD must maintain are certain sales volume to qualify to carry B4B. Is that correct FEAR?

In Canada they also have to meet Bentley specific sales volumes and carry a minimum stock level. I assume that it's the same in other markets.
