Post subject:  My Cosmonaute leather strap...

Hi guys
My Cosmonaute A22322 has a leather strap and i will be looking to replace it at some point moving forward, but at the moment it smell where it is on my wrist!!

Sounds gross i know, i cant afford the bracelet so will be replacing it with another leather strap but the way i see it is that with a new strap it will only start sweating up again.

I know this isnt exclusively a Breitling problem i was just wondering how you can go about cleaning it - the white stitching is also fading so it needs a good wash.

Any ideas at all ??

Thanks in advance

A good leather treatment product could help you a long way. Also, as you suggest, it might need a "wash". Just don't soak the leather strap while cleaning it, instead use a moist towel or cloth. Think of it as taking care and cleaning of a pair of leather shoes. You wouldn't throw those in the tub while cleaning them, would you? Good luck!

There are a ton of leather cleaners available. Even if you didnt want to bother doing it yourself, you could probably take it into a shoe repair shop and have them clean and condition it for you.

The smell is bacteria (and it will happen with watches and straps and to an extent bracelets) with any'red blooded man/woman'.

You can use an alcohol hand cleaner on the back of the strap or...

Personal hygiene spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!

I use a non Aluminium deodorant which kills the bacteria (and is better for you) so I also use this on a smelly watch strap - works a treat.

And it does not block your pores or those of your watchstrap....

Thanks for the info. I have always hated that smell from a few of my straps and could never figure it out!!! Wow I have a whole new drawer of stuff to use if this works right.
