Post subject:  Warranty transferable?

I just bought a pre-owned Breitling that came in DOA. The warranty booklet is dated 4,2010. Is the warranty transferable? Will I have any issues since the watch is not registered in my name? Also the warranty is stamped from an AD over seas. The previous owner said he bought it on line.

He's offering a full refund but I really love the watch and would like to keep it as long as I could get it serviced w/o any issues.

BTW, the problem is that the watch only runs when the chronograph runs. It's really strange .. the watch is fully wound but the seconds subdial will not move until the chronograph is pressed and sometimes will continue running after the chronograph is stopped other times the watch stops one the chronograph stops.

Any input will be really appreciated.

Warranty is transferable, even if not registered to you, but if he bought it from a gray market dealer the warranty is no good.

How would Breitling know if it was bought gray market? Even though he bought it "on-line" (gray market), the booklet is stamped by an AD.

Already answered by PM, relevant parts pasted below....

That's going to be a problem related to the angle of the tilting pinion. Be sure to tell Breitling about that symptom because it's an easy issue to miss in a regular service.

As long as the warranty card is dated less than 2 years ago you have no issues - it's an international warranty that belongs to the watch, not the owner. I wouldn't advertise the fact that it's a grey market piece, but if you have the warranty then you'll be fine taking it to any AD for sending on to Breitling.
