Post subject:  Is there a right pronunciation?
Ok. I just wanted to know if theres a right way in saying "breitling"?

My AD calls it "BRET" ling. As so do I. And as so do most of my friends. But some of my friends say "BRIT" ling.

I took my mark vi to a local jewelry store today to add a link on and he calls it "BRITE" ling.

Is there a correct way in saying it??

Just curious.

It's Bright (or Brite) ling.

I say it Brite-ling but when I read it I say Breet-ling. Rolex is so much easier.

In German, 'ei' is pronounced like 'eye,' and 'ie' is pronounced 'ee'. Once you know that (or once you get used to it), Breitling reads just the way it sounds. Although, if you want to be über authentic, tap the 'r' just a tad, and try to sound like a German villain in a 1930s film.

Yup! German spelling is SO easy. There are no confusing rules like "I before E, except after C..." like in English. You always pronounce the second vowel in the I/E, E/I combinaiton.

Funny this subject comes around once a while, it seems pretty obvious to me but then again that's just me. It's not like it's one of those unpronounceable German words IMHO. And I have to admit that even though I live in a German speaking country (well, kind of) German and me are not close friends.

that was a horrible clip. plus the watch was a fake. and now im going to have to change the way i pronounce the name lol

Just a slight roll of the "r", hit the "g" almost like a "k", and say it aloud all the while picturing Heidi Klum whispering in your ear, "Ohhh you Brrrightlingk Man you." You'll never say it wrong again.
