Post subject:  Should I get a real or a fake Breitling? Help me decide

I am in love with the Breitling Montbrillant Legende. I am a big buy and want a huge watch. The largest Breitling Chronomat is a little cheaper and I was also considering it. Can these be worn every day for years? Where can I get the best price if I decide to go with a real one.

I bought a cheap replica for 200 bucks and the pins fell out. I am considering a replica b.c I can wear it without worrying as much about theft, breaking it, etc. On the same note how can I tell if its real? I am worried I might get sold a fake one. Are there any fake ones that I can consider since I will be wearing this alot? If I go with a replica it has to be durable, swiss time, self winding, and realistic looking.

Go real or go home. There is no point in buying a fake watch. Either buy the real thing or buy a $200 genuine watch. Why pay $200 for something you know is a hunk of junk. My suggestion is to either drop the dough on a legit piece. (Which will be well worth it), or spend $200 on a seiko.

Watches reflect the the people who wear them. Do you really want to be wearing a fake when someone calls you out on wearing a "breitling'? I would rather wear a $5 minnie mouse watch than a faux-ling.

Would you buy a Ferrari with a Yugo engine in it?

It may be nice to look at, but it won't perform when you need it to...and anyone who knows anything about it will know it's a fake - including the wallet-sniffing ladies looking for a big man to take care of them.

Good luck!

Kidding right? :? Why in the world would you even consider a replica and embarrass yourself everytime you wore it! If you cant buy the real thing there are plenty of other nice watch brands out that are affordable and you wont be wearing a FAKE! Take a look at Chase-Durer or a couple other brands that have some of Breitlings style but please dont go buy a replica watch!

It's not allowed to post links to rep sites.

Sounds like you care more about the name on the watch than the actual watch itself. If it truly is just the "style" that you like, there are a number of watch companies that make watches that look similar to Breitling.

Would you rather buy a nice fitting, good quality shirt with no name on it, or a junky, low quality shirt with Giorgio Armani tags on it?

Welcome to the site... I think you should buy real, but you do what you gotta do. If you can't afford a real one, take a look at the pre-owned market; you can find some great values right now. The Navi Legende is a beautiful piece, good luck with your search.

Those links will be removed shortly; posting of replica sites is against the forum rules.

You shouldn't be too worried about theft for something that's attached to you. And if you are worried about something being stolen that's attached to you, perhaps you should be looking into buying a pistol instead of a watch.

Regarding breaking it, some Breitlings are very durable. I've worn a Superocean on combat missions. Navtimers aren't as robust as the Aeromarine watches, but then if you're planning on wearing a dressier watch in extreme conditions, you're doing it wrong. Or is your concern that you'll somehow break it wearing it to the office? Okay...in that case you're never going to be able to buy anything nice for fear of breaking it/scratching it/getting it dirty.

There are lots of ways to tell fakes. Some people on this site are extremely good at spotting fakes.

That's going to cost hundreds of dollars. As others have pointed out, there are good watches you can get for that amount of money. Hell, you could have got a good watch for $200, one that wouldn't have lost all its pins. There is no practical reason to get a fake; none. Fakes exist to help people lie.

At JeffK - Please read the forum rules as posting links to sites selling fakes is not allowed. I've removed them accordingly from your post.

Secondly I suggest taking a few mins to read what this forum is all about - i.e. genuine Breitlings (and other genuine brands). Fakes are generally intensely disliked on here, so posts like your first one are likely to generate some fairly strong responses. As a result you won't find any info about buying a fake here I'm afraid.

As the other guys have said, buy genuine (new or preowned) and you won't regret it.

PS guys I don't want to have to lock up the thread so keep the replies civil please.

If you buy it an AD then you can be assured that it is real.

Send jnelson3097 a PM for contact details of an excellent AD.

Alternatively if you find a used one on eBay post us up some decent quality pictures and we'll soon tell you if it's real or not.
