I just received a fine Blackbird Satin Finish with the steel bracelet. Excited, obviously. That noted, I think the Ocean Racer rubber band is incredibly cool and wish that I had one as an alternative. Looking online, the little bastard runs $595 (USD) which seems quite a lot for something made of rubber. Do you gents have any advice on decent replicas for a lower price? Cheers.

The Ocean Racer retail should be $410.00 USD, and if you purchase from a local dealer you should expect a discount off of retail. You could also post on the buy/sale/trade forum here asking if anyone has one they would like to sell.

EDIT: I forgot... :welcome: to breitlingsource!!

An Ocean Racer Strap on Deployment does not sell for $595. It retails for $410, you can go to a local Authorized Dealer and try to negotiate for a 30% discount....that would bring your total to under $300.

It's not the rubber band, it's the deployant clasp that is what's costing you, I think the replacment rubber on its own only runs about $100.

But as has been said, these things pop up on the Buy/Sell/Trade page frequently

Is there a replica anywhere that's worth looking at? I'm prepared to spend maybe $200 for a band - but $410, 300, or whatever seems steep on principal.

They do look cool, though...

What is it with everyone asking about fakes/replicas over the past 24 hours??

I would suggest that you either look for a Breitling band with a tang buckle (diver pro I or II) or look for an aftermarket strap that is not made by Breitling. Either one of those 2 options will get you under $200.

Discussion of replicas is not allowed here and you will not find any help in buying a fake.

As a daily wearer of the ocean racer I would say it is easily worth the extra $100 you would need to spend to get it. The clasp is what makes the watch and the grip of the rubber is just right for a heavy watch.

At that price point I would say....why not go OEM?

Just me tho

Re. the replicas...IN this case I think replica may have been a poor word choice. Aftermarket is sort of what I think you meant, or at least I am giving the benefit of the doubt

You'll spend $200 for a fake piece of crap but not $300 for the real deal with an awesome deployment clasp??? That makes absolutely no sense!!! Your going to trust your $3000 a $4000 Breitling on a fake strap with crappy spring bars and jeopardize it falling off?? Ask Sharkman what can potentially happen with a rubber strap if not secured correctly.

And yes the replica/fake talk is getting out of hand lately.

sorry i am new here. and understand. my complaint is just that the exchange/return policy at the retailer I am working with is harsh. i thought about exchanging the whole thing but they aren't so flexible.

Aftermarket would be awesome. Do they come up on buy/sell/trade much?

There are a ton of aftermarket strapmakers from $5 to $500 - Google can help you.

It does seem that perhaps the OP was talking aftermarket not replica which is a valid question. Just because a strap is not a Breitling does not necessarily mean that it it crap.

I certainly know the buyers remorse feeling and who hasnt on something, but I think you will find a world of strap options you can use on your new gear.

by the way the Brushed Blackbird is FREAKIN SWEET and if the strap is the biggest issue you have you will be well on your way to getting alot of enjoyment out of your purchase.
