Just want to have some of your thoughts on a decision I am about to make. I would really value what you guys think.
I am about to put money down in my local ABD on either a SuperOcean or a SteelFish. I just have a few issues on my mind...... I have it narrowed down to is a SO blue dial, which I ll probably go for, or SOSF black dial.
The few small issues I have are.... Do you guys think the SF can be carried of on a small wrist? I would really love the top dog, SF, but I just feel its just that bit to big for my small wrists. Does any ware a SF who has small wrists? The next factor is the SO is a discontinued model or a least it will be soon, don't know if its in the 2010 LOG. Would this bother you? Give the choice I would not go for the SO II as personally its not for me and if neither the SO or the SOSF were in the picture I guess it would be back to the Colt range.
On the Plus side I am getting the SO for a great deal E1950 on a Pro II and also with a Leather strap in on the deal. Is this a good deal IYO? Converted that equates to 1620 GBP at the monent . The marked price was E2370. I was getting is last week for E2100 but I finally got talking to the owner, very nice guy BTW, and pushed for the best price.. Good customer, Going to be a discontinued model ETC got it down!!! Anyhow I think either would be is a great addition to any collection and it is been purchased to mark a very special occasion.

If only I had bigger wrists!!! But I don't!!!!

Apologies for my late night ramblings.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated....

:lingsrock:

Not sure what your wrist size is, but I have 6.75" wrists and have no problem with the Avenger which is 45.4mm. I was never a big fan of the Superocean (I do however love the SOII), but the Steelfish is a great all around watch IMO and is probably the best value for the money in the entire Breitling line.

Have you tried the SOSF on, or are you just worried about the size given that it is 44mm?

I think that you should try them both on and see which speaks to you. I wouldn't balk at buying a soon-to-be discontinued watch either. The Breitling line-ups have a natural turnover. Just a matter of time before they move on from almost every model.

Ultimately, the watch is just for you - I wouldn't make a decision based on how you feel others might perceive it (i.e. too big) It gets said here a lot, but it doesn't mean it isn't true.

I think carrying a "large" watch on a "small" wrist might seem strange at first, but just be confident in your choice. 99% of people will not even notice your watch.

As far as the deal is concerned, I don't know the EU prices so can't really comment.

tried on both and not to worried about the size 44 mm wise. I tried on both as as ian says the SO just seemed to speak to or even fit me just that bit better. That said I think most of the breitlings would speak to me! I know the final choice is down to me and as stated again by ian no body in my circle of friends will even notice the watch not to mention its a breitling never mind the model. I am buying it for myself and of course the final say is down to me but its just nice to get yer thoughts on the matter. If I told my friends and family about this "watch nut" would not come into to it. . Just the "nut" bit! ! ! :poke:

My wrist isn't exactly a tree trunk either, but I have a black dial Steelfish and it's absolutely fine.

I personally prefer the Steelfish to the SO but if you prefer the SO and you're getting a good deal, then it's a no-brainer.

Don't worry about it being a discontinued model - as long as Breitling still provide support for it, you'll still be able to get it serviced, which is the important bit.

In my opinion, you shouldn't have any trouble wearing a Superocean or Steelfish with that wrist size. I think my wrist is about that big. I'll measure it and post some pictures later.

Same size as my wrist and I think the Steelfish wears fine. The only problem you may find is the deeply rounded caseback spacing the case of your wrist. Nothing trying one on wouldn't decide though

My wrist is about 6.5 to 6.75 inches by the way, so not big and absolutely fine for the Steelfish.

Well if the SO spoke the most to you...then that is what I would go with. The fact that it may be discontinued down the line would have no impact on my decision...in fact I kind of like the idea of owning a watch that is no longer available to purchase (at least new). It makes it a little more exclusive IMO.

I measured my wrist, and I'm around 6.75". I just went outside and snapped this:

I don't think it's too big at all.
