Post subject:  Twin Sixty 2 vs standard Navi
I am looking at Navi's and I came across the Twin Sixty 2.

The review stated that this watch wasn't well received and therefore was only produced for a couple years.

Mechanically does this watch match up to Navis of the same time? Was this watch discontinued just due to low sales, or is there a flaw in the design?

What should I expect to pay for a second hand?

Hi!

I in my opinion the Original Twin Sixty Is Much Nicer - However, both share the same B39 Movement. As far as comparable Navitimers of the age they mostly used B13 which is a modified 7750 ETA extremely robust - while the Twin Sixty utilizes the ETA 2892 - A2 as their base for this patricular watch/caliber which Breitling uses on their higher end watches like the Olympus.

Also the original Twin Sixty Has a Date Feature & the Twin Sixty 2 does not.

Almost forgot the Twin Sixty 2 is the Only Breitling watch never to be catalogue - if that makes a difference to you or not?

I like both the Twin Sixty and the Twin Sixty 2.

There's nothing wrong with the design, it was just seen as a little too radically different for Navitimers of the time with the big chopped arabics. I'm not sure I buy the argument that a 2892-A2 based movement is better than an integrated chrono - it's just a modular platform that provides more flexibility for different complications - it's neither better nor worse in my opinion.

The movement is well proven - it's the same one as the popular Hercules used.

In terms of value, you don't see many come up so it's tough to provide accurate numbers.

Thanks guys....

I do prefer the look of the Navitimer, but they don't seem too far apart.

If I do have on thing I don't like about the tri-compax layout is the date position. It just seems squeezed into place. Maybe the Twin Sixty would be a solution to that.

BTW...This place make Wikipedia look old hat. Ask a question get answer! Good work guys

You probably also wont like the fact that the tri-compax left no apparent room for a quick set date.

Twin Sixty 2 gets away from that problem by not having a date at all, although the movement is capable of supporting a quick set date as a tricompax. To the best of my knowledge the Dubois Depraz 2073 chrono module that they po on the 2892 doesn't prevent the quick set date.

They're calibre 13 (Valjoux 7750) powered so have a quick set.
