Post subject:  Airwolf discontinued?

Just read on another board that the Airwolf is to be discontinued!

I'm rather surprised. The B1 (as far as I know) was very popular, and the Airwolf was/is it's replacement.

I realize that the 1st version of the Airwolf, with skeleton minute hand and sunburst design on it's dial left many people unhappy, but I'm still surprised that they would discontinue the B1/Airwolf without any replacement!

I just ordered the Airwolf Raven, and can't wait till next week, when it arrives!

So... will my watch now be more valuable, less valuable, or really no difference?

I plan to keep it forever, probably leave it to my son, so I'm not that concerned, but it's really a model of Breitling that I love, and I'm not sure if it weren't available, if I'd be as happy with the Aerospace or other ana/digi versions....

Anyone have thoughts on the Airwolfs demise?

The Raven is a fairly limited watch, and its still a new model, so I cant imagine that it would be worth any less because the line is discontinued.

Congrats on picking up the Airwolf Raven! Be sure to post some pics when it arrives!

Yeah, it's disappointing to see the Airwolf discontinued. The Raven is still there, but it's not the same. I don't understand the shift to rubber bezels/pushers. Why are they any better? Looks cool, but not sure how they'll hold up long term.

Hello, there is no new Chronolog, the name is " Pure Breitling " in Germany yet.
He shall appear May in the month.
It would be very a pity because the Airwolf felled me very well.

Here is a pichture of my Airwolf

The pushers on the Raven are actually stainless steel, with a rubber insert. I personally like how the markings (numbers) on the Raven's bezel are painted white, which gives it great contrast. Not sure why the markings on the standard Airwolf were left silver, while on other watches they're painted black... guess it's just a decision by Breitling designers.

I also prefer the all red seconds hand, as compared to the Airwolf's second hand with just the tip of the second hand in red. Again, the all red seconds hand on the Raven gives much more contrast, against the black dial.

Both are beautiful! If the Raven had never been released, I was all set to pick up an Airwolf, and would have been thrilled.

Willows, you say "The Raven is still there...".. not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but if the Airwolf is discontinued, I'd figure the Airwolf Raven, which is simply a special addition of the Airwolf, is also gone!

There are pics of the Airwolf Raven on display at this years BaselWorld, so I doubt it's discontinued. See > http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t= ... sg_5004618

The Raven models are also in the 2010 catalogue, or so I've read (can anyone confirm?). I know it's a special edition, but hopefully they'll produce them for a bit longer! 8)

It's a pretty slick looking watch... love the red seconds hand too, but I'm just two minds about the rubber!

Airwolf is discontinued, Airwolf Raven remains.

I happen to love the rubber bezel!

I kind of wish the standard Airwolf had black text, for more contrast, on the chrome bezel. With the Rubber bezel and chrome markings, the contrast looks great!

Doubt that the rubber bezel will be any more suseptable to damage then a chrome bezel would be to scratches, but I guess time will tell.

I also love how on the Diver Pro II strap with deployment, you can basically (up to a point) adjust the strap to fit your wrist, without having to go to an AD or jeweler! Nice feature!

Well!

I think the new Chronospace is the Airwolf's replacement really.

The Airwolf never got passed the B1's HUGE following, despite the revamp of the dial.

I tried on the Chronospace today and I'm going to have to admit to loving it.

BIG at 48mm and the mesh is not as nice as the one for the SO Heritage, with a brushed clasp which seems rather flimsy for a big watch.

But I got the big 3 and 9 numerals. better in the flesh.

So, I'll be selling my Airwolf in the next few weeks to assist in paying for the new Chronospace.

I actually like the chronospace dial better than the airwolf.

The round (steelfish type) markers don't interfere with the digital displays like the batons on the airwolf did. The bezel looks to be more functional also, large knurled edges to grab and turn for slide rule use (for those who would use it). Easy to read hands and dial, the 3 and 9 could be a little large though. The case is not as thick (15.2 vs 16.7mm) which I like, but 48mm case diameter - wow- too big for me unfortunately!

Good luck on your exchange/sale/purchase!

Guess that's why Baskin and Robbins makes 31 flavors!

I prefer the look of the Airwolf. I just like the thicker bezel, and dial size suits me much better, although, the Chronospace does look very nice. As others have said, not sure about the oversized numerals! While I'm sure they'll look great in the dark, with all of that lume, not sure how I feel about them.

I'd probably need to see them both, side by side, maybe try them on, but from the pictures, I much prefer the looks of the Airwolf.

Glad to see they have a sound resonance chamber for the caseback, to amplify the alarm sound! Haven't seen what the caseback looks like... probably not the engine prop type from the B1 and Airwolf, however. Not really sure though. Anyone know what the caseback looks like?

Chronospace caseback (amplifying the alarm to 90 dB apparently - the only thing I like about it tbh!)

Man, that thing is ugly!  I much prefer the Airwolf. Would have been great to see it get a dial/marker/bezel refresh or something. I might be interested in your Wolf Davey!

Here's the Raven, for comparison purposes...

Willows, not sure I'd agree that it's "ugly", but I don't find it nearly as dramatic or appealing as the Raven!
