Post subject:  breitling service new hand question???

Hi All

I have seen the breitling service video - here it seems all hands are replaced. I have just picked up a 2007 steelfish and I am thinking of getting a full service later this year.

Will breitling change my second hand from the old one with the square for the newer arrow one ?

If the answer is no will they do so on my request???

Thanks

John

I'm not sure if it is regular practice to upgrade the hands but I do recall that it has happened to a member here before.

See this thread.

Thanks for the link, now I guess I can ask for the updated second hand - no worries.

Just an update.

I am getting the watch serviced on return of my SA

However BUK are saying they will not replace the second hand with the newer arrow one as this will not be inkeeping with the age and authenticity of the watch.

They will also send me a replacement box if I supply my box and £40 :lingsrock:

So to get a new box set for £40 as Sonyman has previously done, you now need to supply your existing/old box :?

I could understand that for a warranty issue, if there is such a thing on the boxes

So would they supply a new one for £40 as this would save on postage and I could flip the old one for a few quid on ebay!?!

Also what do you guys in the know think about the second hand? can I push for the newer one???

Cheers

John

I don't think Breitling are too keen on 'modifying' watches, but personally I've never tried. I wonder if you would have more luck going through Andrew Michaels as they deal in a lot of special order stuff

Possibly not a good idea if you think you'll ever need/want to sell it as its just going to raise authenticity questions

Didn't someone on this forum have their Superocean fully serviced and it came back with a Steelfish type brushed bezel? I am trying the search function on this.

Yeah I saw that thread and have sent the link to BUK and am awaiting a response.

I dont think the sell on value should be affected as it is the same watch just slightly older and I will have BUK paperwork aerifying the work (if they will do it)

It would be nice to get roffs opinion
thanks

In terms of value?

I don't think that it will have any impact. It may slightly change the potential market, but that's about it.

In terms of whether they do it, I suspect that it's regional decision making at each service centre, but no real reason not to.

I think the reason they want your old box is exactly because they dont want you to "flip i for a few quid on ebay".

People selling loose boxes/dials/bezels cheap on ebay in my opinion are supporting the replica scam market we all hate so much.

(Btw im sending my 3months old SA to the service center now to replace the dial because of miscoloring on the batons. And the Breitling certified workshop said that even them cannot order ANY part from Breitling before they have returned the original/defective part and get it changed, exactly because of the replica situation)
