Now this is surely going to generate some controversy about use of other manufacturers items on different watch brands, but hopefully people will see it for what it is - a bit of fun....

I, like many others, are a fan of swapping and changing straps and bracelets on my watches. I have many OEM, plus various aftermarket, and a couple of custom made straps, plus the standard bracelets, and one mesh. I do like to see the OEM items on, however in many of the cases I simply cannot justify paying the huge amounts of money for them. Yes, I admit they are very nice, but are they that nice?

My latest watch is a Watchco Omega Seamaster 300. A beautiful piece with a stunning bracelet - the OEM Omega mesh version, which is extremely comfy, and looks cool to boot. I wanted one for my SuperOcean - it would look stunning, but I looked at the Breitling OEM version, and to say I was shocked would be an understatement. My AD gave me a price of around £400! I didn't really want to go down the line of aftermarket mesh, as I haven't really seen any that 'do it for me'. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I got thinking of various ways of using what I already had. I had a Breitling Ocean Racer deployant in 20mm. I also had an Omega mesh in 20mm..... I'm sure you can all guess what happened next. So that was the first test - can the mesh from an Omega, fit a Breitling deployant, and the answer is resounding - yes!

But that wasn't enough... If a Breitling deployant can fit an Omega mesh, can an Omega clasp from the mesh fit an Ocean Racer rubber?! The design of the rubber is awesome, and the answer to that is yes as well...

Personally I think both options work, the SuperOcean looks ultra crisp, and the Planet Ocean more 'tool' like. Overall I'm glad I've at least had a go, and resulted in some interesting options. Now the next question is what can I try next?!!

Cheers

I think it looks pretty cool. The only thing that would bug me is the other brands on the clasp.

It doesn't have the other brands on the clasp, that was what I was trying to achieve. The clasps are both correct for the watches, it's just the rubber/mesh that is different...

Luckily both clasps are 20mm, so it was easy enough to 'pop' out the mesh and insert it into the Ocean Racer deployant.... Sorry for the bad pic..!

I think that the Omega really works on the OR. Not sure about the mesh on the Breitling - need to think on that one some.

Great to see that it worked though!

I'm not usually a fan of the OR, but I think it suits the Planet Ocean perfectly. Well done!

That's good work although I guess after a week or so, I'd want to change them back.

Nice going! I think the mesh looks really great.

I've really gone off the OR of late for some reason, but I admit it looks good on the PO.
