Post subject:  Advice for Watch Insurance
Does anyone know of a good company I can use to insure my BB? It's my first high-end watch, so I've never done anything like this before.

My current living arrangements mean I can;t put it on home contents insurance for a while, so I just a company who will allow me to pay some money and insure my watch against loss, theft and accidental damage.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I added a special coverage to my home insurance that specifically covers jewelry. I'm covered up to $6000 I beleive and my deductible would only be $250 as opposed to $1000 for my regular homeowners insurance.

One of the diamonds on my wifes engagement ring got damaged. I filed a claim and sent in the jewelers estimate to replace it and they sent a check right over for the amount. I'm with travelers/geico

Sounds good, but I'm looking for a specific individual policy. As I said, I'm not looking to put it to home insurance.

I have my jewelery insured under my homeowners policy but your post got me looking on the net for insurance companies just dealing in the specific area of Jewelery.

I found this:

The premium quotes don't seem too bad (you can input your data and it will give you a quote online) and I checked their rating. A+ with A.M. Best and BBBpi with Standard & Poor. So they seem like a reputable company.

If nothing else it may give you some idea of approximate premium costs in the industry and there is an actual policy that you can read online to give you some idea of the coverage available.

That's all I have to offer maybe someone else can take it further. :D

Hi everybody - I just joined the forum and just got my first Breitling - actually I got two. I'm on vacation and found an AD closing their doors who had everything 30% off so I got the Cockpit and the Superocean.

Anyway for those in the USA I'd recommend State Farm. I have a photography business and I have a personal articles policy with State Farm. I insure all of my camera gear, my fiancee's engagement ring and I plan to add my new watches as soon as I get home. It doesn't have to be associated with any other policy and you don't have to have any other policy with State Farm to open one (although they'll likely try to sell you other policies). No deductibles either. I had a loss and they were super easy to deal with, cut a check right away so I have nothing but praise for them.

Those last two are exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, only it needs to be UK based. Thanks guys, maybe that will give members a better idea of what I'm looking for.

I've done some research on this recently. It's usualy much cheaper to add specific items to your homeowners policy. The only two companies I found that offer seperate policies are Jewelers Mutual and Chubb.

£100 per year for a £5k watch. Doesn't seem too bad.

I need to know who you're insured with!!
Just added my SA and 6.75 on to mine and my insurance(with Legal & General) has gone up another £11.00 / mth. Headwind already on it (£3.00 ish) so does anyone think £168.00 / yr is reasonable for £12k worth of watches ? cos I'm not sure........... :?

its weird i think it depends was like 25 each time i added one but seems like everyone i call now its loads more
