I can never really get a true feel for any Breitling looking at a picture...I have to see it, feel it, in person. Some models that I hardly even gave a second look on my computer blew me away when I had them in my hand !

Everyone hates it except me. Even my girlfriend (for whose taste I have a great deal of respect) doesn't like it, and the one she dislikes the most is the one I'm keen on - the yellow/bracelet version.

It isn't perfect, and there have clearly been some odd styling decisions made, but I am happy to see Breitling come out with a design that has some smoother lines. IMO the styling cues on the rest of the Aquamarine range are a bit clunky. Just my opinion though. Fire away!

Your not alone Otto (at least not yet, lol!). I would like to see it in person at an AD.
It can be hard to tell the overall look with just pictures. IMO the accent colors are kind of neat looking, give it a more sporty/casual look. I'm with you on the yellow - also like that combination on the IWC Aquatimer 2000. I hope it's not too long for the ADs to get them in. Hang in there.
Terry

I am really liking this new watch. Yes, the font is trendy and the inlaid rubber bezel could wear poorly over the years (although rubber straps seem to hold up relatively well), but the watch is nice and bold - AND very clean looking for a Breitling. Looks great on the bracelet. Too bad it's 42mm as I'm starting to realize that 40mm is about my max watch size - but that won't stop me from trying it on when the ADs get them in.

I like the live photos better. It looks less like the SOH series than I thought. I will reserve final judgement until it is on my wrist. Wouldn't mind trying on the yellow one.

That latest real-world pic looks better than the first live pictures we saw, but it still doesn't look as good as it did in the fancy publicity pictures.I think I'm going to have to see this one first hand, although the rubber bezel and more importantly the size already discounts the possibilty of me buying one.

Not an official source, but saw a reference to the new SO being $2,695 - no mention of whether that's head or some strap combo. - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/fashi ... dTz12oxwoA

Also interesting industry sales numbers in that article.

Interesting article, Roff.

My AD had a preliminary indication of about AUD 4,000 (about 10-15% less than the Steelfish), so USD 2,695 certainly sounds right, in terms of where it fits in the range.
