Roffensian,

Thanks for your input. This is my first breitling and I am already obsessed with the watch and hate to part with it for 4-8 weeks. Hopefully because it's not chrono and a relatively new watch (2012) it won't take too long.

Breitling USA; that's how I got the quote. You send them your watch, they email a quote.

I had anticipated the necessity of a complete overhaul, due to the age of the watch, and the fact that it had never been serviced. The woman who answered the phone at Razny in Highland Park told me that they could do it, when I callled. I inquired here, and the consensus seemed to be to go with Breitling USA rather than an AD. I had been leaning that way to start with, so that's what I did.

I didn't seriously consider their authorized service centers, since there isn't one here. I figured if I had to ship, I'd go to Breitling USA.

Ok then...you didn't send it to Breitling USA through Razny then...thanks

Bill

Right. I sent it registered insured mail, per BUSA instructions.

800 euro for my Navi World. I forgot to take it off some years ago while swimming. Kept on working but the water probably made some damage

My navi has been gone so long that I don't think I even want it back. Overhaul + new crown $790. It's been almost 2 months and they are still waiting for parts to show up.

That's long. It took 2 and a half weeks for the price offer and now it will be about 5 weeks for the maintenance/repair.

If I bought a really top end car would I get it served by Fred round the corner?
£6+k is plenty cash for a watch. A Breitling is neither an Omega nor a Tag.

'pays your money takes your choice'

Agreed. No whining. If you buy expensive watches, you are also committing to a lifetime of servicing as required.

I recently sent my Skyracer to BUSA for a 5 yr overhaul and date wheel repair. Cost was $700 and I consider it the cost of owning a mechanical chrono. No complaints and they did a great job. Only took 4 weeks to receive it back.

"Almost 2 months" is not unusual for an overhaul, especially where parts need to be shipped is involved. Let's not forget that there was Christmas and New Year period where they shut down for a few weeks. Summer coming up soon, they will close again for 6 weeks or so mid of the year so get the in fast if you want them serviced before the midsummer ;-)
I wish I worked for an industry that could practically stop operating for 6 weeks in winter and another 6 weeks in summer.
