i still love the look of this something new, but when i seen rubber bezel that just killed it for me. i do not like the idea of rubber coating on the head. something that will get wore out so easy. o well they can keep mine :(

so, the colors are just on the inside of the bezel, that ring? and the rest of the watch is black? in other words the only color change is that ring? hmmmm...still happy with my coral SO :D

I'm still keen on it. The numeral font isn't completely to my liking, and I would prefer 44mm to 42, but overall I like the design and still think it's the best looking new Breitling design I've seen in ages. Plus it comes on a Pro 2, which is what I wanted.

Rubber coated bezel doesn't put me off at all, I think that's fine in a dive watch.

Time to visit the AD and see if they know anything yet. :D

When I was told about the different colours I thought that the dial would be different too, not just the rehaut :huh

Love the creative names for the colours too

I don't like it nor hate it either, it just don't appeal to me. But that rubber, I wonder in the long run how is it going to stay clean and not looking used over the years. And dents etc how to fix them.

Geez, I've found the explanation:

"The bezel is slightly hollowed to show off the slightly raised numerals and hour-markers, and then coated in black rubber finely molding the brushed metal surface."

That's just wrong, wrong, wrong. With that bezel it looks hideous. And it doesn't offer true diver functions.

It looked so great on the first leaked shot

   Oh god. If I had a "rolling on the floor, throwing a tantrum, and pulling my hair out" emoticon I'd be using it here. Fashion nonsense, nothing more.

The dial still looks good, as those slightly slanted numbers are very reminiscent of early 90's pieces (which is a good thing IMO), but the bezel ruins it. (Hmmmmm, seems like Breitling are getting a real taste for cocking up perfectly good watch designs with hideous bezels...........)

I gave the new SO another chance. I've checked all shots, read all about it. I think on an Ocean Racer strap I could like how it looks (even with the 5 different fonts used), but I'd be constantly worried about the rubber bezel. Why cannot they use the bezel of the SOH? I can understand the price slot of the SO is too low to make it with a ceramic bezel, but what the heck is wrong with an aluminum bezel insert? It worked for Rolex for 50+ years on the Submariner, and Omega still uses it on the PO.

I guess I wouldn't be this upset at Breitling if they did this move about not the SO, but some other model. The SO has a great heritage, AFAIK it was a popular piece in their range. They could have done those changes with the Colt, or introduced the new diver using a different model name. But I guess they decided to keep the SO's heritage with the SOH, and move the SO down to a kid's diver level. Which would be cool, but even the SOH is not a true diver: no minute notches on the bezel...

Fortunately they still have the Steelfish, but I'm now very afraid of what Breitling would roll out in Basel 2011  Maybe they'll discontinue or ruin the Steelfish and Chronomat Evo then?

Looks like I'm all on my own now.

Everyone hates it except me. Even my girlfriend (for whose taste I have a great deal of respect) doesn't like it, and the one she dislikes the most is the one I'm keen on - the yellow/bracelet version.

It isn't perfect, and there have clearly been some odd styling decisions made, but I am happy to see Breitling come out with a design that has some smoother lines. IMO the styling cues on the rest of the Aquamarine range are a bit clunky. Just my opinion though. Fire away!
