Just a related question; what is the turn around time to get a watch back from service, in the US?

Edit:
- I am in the New York City area.
- also I understood that ADs always send to BUSA on our behalf, isn't that always the case; do they servic themselves?

BUSA told me 5-6 weeks on my Navitimer World when I authorized the complete overhaul 3 weeks ago. Hopefully that won't change when they get it opened and disassembled, and see exactly what they're dealing with.

There are a few authorized Breitling service centers in the U.S., and some ADs will offer to do the work, as well. You can inquire at your AD, and make your own decision.

UPDATE: Just heard from BUSA, was told my watch will be shipping by Monday, so that'll be 5 weeks from the date I authorized it. I checked, they've had it a bit longer than I recalled.

Watch shipped 3 days after they told me it would. The watch got back to me 43 days after they received it. They installed a new calf strap on the deployant, and returned my old calf strap, which had got a bit dull, but wasn't really that bad. I sent that strap, hoping they might revitalize it. I didn't expect a replacement to be included in the overhaul cost.

I'll probably put the new calf on ice, and use the old one after I clean it up. But right now I'm trying a SNPR Horween Wheat Dublin on it.

I'm wondering if I should have sent my croco strap.

Living here in Sydney the wait for a full service is 10 to 12 weeks. Apparently the centre they send it to accommodates all of Australia and New Zealand, so it's a bit of a wait.

I so wish it was like getting my car serviced though and they would give me a loaner to wear…

The service should come with a loaner to wear as I'm anticipating it will be close to $1K for a full service on a Navitimer Olympus.

I'm waiting till my next watch arrives before I drop the Navi off and get the actual quote.

No, it does not quite work like this.
If you send your watch in on a bracelet, then the bracelet will get polished/brushed whichever it is originally.
If you send your watch on a leather strap, you will get it back with a new calf strap. Even if you send it in on croco, it will come back with a new calf strap. That is what is included in the overhaul service - bracelet polishing or a new calf strap, typically on exchange basis. Take it or leave it.

I just have my Monbrillant 1461 Jours overhauled here in Hong Kong.
It had to go back to Switzerland for the service due to the relatively rare semi perpetual complication.
All up it took 6 weeks and came back perfect. All up, just a tad under $1000 including a new hands and a new flange.
Not bad at all.
Had a bit of a hickup but that turned out to be simply my own stupidity.

I suspected that, but did not know it. I would call my remark tongue in cheek, if I hadn't used a keyboard.

Crikey, live and learn - I had no idea they replaced the strap on an overhaul service.

Breitling USA; that's how I got the quote. You send them your watch, they email a quote.

I had anticipated the necessity of a complete overhaul, due to the age of the watch, and the fact that it had never been serviced. The woman who answered the phone at Razny in Highland Park told me that they could do it, when I callled. I inquired here, and the consensus seemed to be to go with Breitling USA rather than an AD. I had been leaning that way to start with, so that's what I did.

I didn't seriously consider their authorized service centers, since there isn't one here. I figured if I had to ship, I'd go to Breitling USA.

Ok then...you didn't send it to Breitling USA through Razny then...thanks

Bill

Hello all. Sent my superocean 42 today to get serviced. It's not holding any power reserve and is off about a second each minute. AD said that it needed simple maintenance such as oil lube, cleaning, and check mechanical movement. Anyone else that has had a superocean serviced and have any idea about time to get it back? I'm going on vacation in 7 weeks and am hoping to have it back by then.

I would let them know that and they will try to accommodate.

I guess another question I have is, which way is faster? Sending in yourself or sending it through an AD?

Depends - on balance probably sending yourself because you can courier overnight if necessary whereas with an AD it may sit for a couple of days. No distinction after it reaches the service centre.
