Did you happen to ask your AD when they're expecting it in while you had them on the phone?

Indeed, it would seem more likely that they can get you more accurate information on the date of availability of a new model in your market than anyone else!

Oh, man. I love the way it looks, but the scale is enormous. I'm a military pilot, and could use it, but I'm worried it's just too big and clunky to be functional, even for wearing in the cockpit. Not that I have the money to buy a new one anyway, but I think I'll gladly stick with my Airwolf and co-pilot module as my professional watch.

... I keep looking at that picture, and thinking that it's been photoshopped as a joke to make the watch caricature-like oversized. Almost looks like Deja Vu's watch from the fantastic "Top Secret!"

I know Ricardo would probably be the first to admit that he doesn't have the largest wrists in the world, but the E2 is still a ludicrous size for most people. It's a shame as it's a very good looking watch, and is obviously a technical tour de force.

The more I look at it the more I think it's supposed to be worn on the outside sleeve of a flying suit I suspect.
Looks great but even I am thinking it might be a bit large.
I've ordered my 50mm Nixie tube watch so that may have to do me for a while...

Yes I agree , I too have a lot to do with all sorts of different planes and it's not really fit for purpose for guys that could use it , I would scratch it to bits in a week . Too big , sadly .

I found out from my AD's regional rep that the reason the Emergency 2 has been delayed for a while now is due to battery issues with the 406 transmitter battery. Apparently the battery dedicated to the 406 Mhz transmitter dies in 30 hours or so when the distress beacon hasn't even been activated, making it rather ineffective as I doubt anyone will want to charge a watch every 30 hours, or even have the capability if one is out on a trek or mission.
Until they figure out what the issue is the watch will be just a dream.

If that's true, then it's yet another reason why the E2 is just huge white elephant.

I've said it before - I think the E2 has a great looking dial, but it's just too large to be remotely practical for anyone to wear except perhaps over a flightsuit, but with a price tag that means no pilot will actually risk wearing it and getting it bashed up in the cockpit. A 30 hour battery life pushes it from being a clumsy but still practical item, into the realm of total superfluousness and impracticality.

Totally agree, but I'd still take one in orange please!

The wisest colour: a watch of that size in orange gives the rescue chopper a good chance of spotting you on the ground after the battery has given out...

I've heard there are issues with the frequency used here in the UK is that true? Or just an AD with 'a little bit of knowledge..............' the same AD that said the Chronospace Auto Blacksteel LE which my lovely Wife offered to buy me was called a Cosmonaute Edition................

Stef

P.S I didn't take her up on the offer, as lovely as the BS Chronospace auto is on it's matching black steel mesh, it didn't jump up and smack me in the face!!
