Thanks Allthingswatches,

I feel a lot better knowing I'm not alone. I'll too just leave it this time and just enjoy but the difference is, I sooo paid retail! It's a fantastic looking watch you have there as well. I love the blue dial and interesting complication.

Thanks again for reply.

Thanks! It's black but the crappy AR makes it look blue lol.

They did do the right thing by you.

Others have taken it off completely (AR), replaced the glass (a waste of money) or lived with it. I am sorry as you are a customer of the brand. It's a shame and I'm sure many more are in the same boat.

Side note my emergency is fine but it's a flat crystal. It's the dome for sure on these transoceans that create the problems we share.

However this ar seems more fragile than the older breitling AR. Enjoy the watch. It's gorgeous.

Thanks you!

Yeah, they definitely did do right by me. I'm sure if I brought it back to them they would replace the crystal but it seems that won't be the the answer anyway in this case as either another replacement or crystal change will yield the same results, maybe worse. I'm still a Breitling fan. My Galactic's crystal is flawless!

Maybe I'll just have them document it for now so when I do one of their interventions, they won't also charge me for a crystal. Assuming I do an intervention before the 5 year warranty expires.

I see your dial is black now on a second look at that pic. It's beatiiful.

AR is a strange coating as the industry keeps updating what they are using. I know many older Breitling watches still has pristine AR and they are every day watches. I was of the mind that when I first purchased my classic Planet Ocean years ago that I would remove the exterior AR when it started to look scratched up. Years later and many dives under its log, the AR is still flawless and so is the AR on my Blackbird so not all AR is created equal.

I happen to be in the mall today and the salesman in Birks was wearing a Transocean. We got to talking about the AR coating. He purchased his Transocean Chrono brand new this past November and the AR was all gone around the whole perimeter of the crystal. Holy S*@t!

Breitling should be aware of this. With that they should help the customers of these watches when it's time for service but in sure that will never happen.

Same thing happened with my transocean. Had to go back twice under warranty. First time the rotor was sticking and I pointed out the defect in the AR coating. They replaced the back crystal by accident instead of the front one. They fixed it the 2nd time. You can see it around the entire edge in this picture. Looks like it was worn off. Could only be seen under certain lighting and angles.

Natesen,

Did that happen over time or was it delivered to you like this?

It was delivered that way. I noticed it after a cple days so there is no way it developed or was worn like that in like 2 days. In that pic you can only see it on the right side of the watch but it was literally like that all the way around. They admitted it was a defect and fixed it under warranty. They had trouble noticing it which is why they mistakenly replaced the back crystal for some reason the first time. I sent the watch with this picture the 2nd time and they took care of it.

The new crystal looks much better. I don't see any of those defects in application on this one.
