I am really digging the idea of a Chrono for the next watch. Saw one I really liked the looks of due to the contrasting sub dials. It happened to be a M1 with yellow face and black sub dials. Noticed that it was Ti and Quartz. Not a deal breaker either way for me, but after doing some digging my head is spining with all the different Avengers. Do I have this more or less right? For this argument lets throw out the SA as I think it is too big for me to pull off.

Avenger/Avenger Skyland - Same watch more or less? Steel/Automatic
Avenger Seawolf - Don't care not a chrono
Avenger Seawolf Chrono - Steel/Automatic
Chrono Avenger - Ti/Automatic
Chrono Avenger M1 - Ti/Quartz
Chrono Avenger Sixty-Nine Steel/Quartz

I like the dial/date set up of the M1, Seawolf Chono, Sixty-Nine over the others. I like the contrasting dials too. Anyone have some recommendations on years/models/colors that fit the bill? Probably don't want another blue faced watch. Any others I should be looking at beyond the Avenger variants? I think a Colt Chrono would be smaller than I am after.

Thoughts on quartz vs. mechanical for this type of watch?

Finally looking at the price list I see in the years when the M1 and Chrono Avenger (both Ti both chrono) were made the M1 was slightly higher in price. I was under the impression, perhaps wrongly, that a mechanical movement watch would typically cost more than a Quartz movement. What am I missing here?

The Seawolf Chrono is quartz as well, which is a shame because I love the layout of it but don't really want a quartz watch. Personally I like Autos better, but that's just me. The Avenger is a great looking tool watch, good luck picking one out.

Mechanical for me too! Why spend thousands on something with a battery? :poke: JMO though.

I like both the Chrono Avenger (Ti) and the Chrono Avenger M1. For a larger watch the titanium makes them a little more wearable due to less weight. This is vs. an Avenger/Skyland which for me is a little large and heavy. I almost pulled the trigger on the yellow dial/black subs M1 a year ago (spotted used one while traveling at AD). The quartz aspect doesn't bother me.

One of the stand-out features of the M1 is the magnetic push pieces which allow you to use the chrono function under water (water tight operation). This may be one reason the the price is higher than you would expect. Even though both are 44mm watches, the M1 comes in a little lighter (92g vs. 100g) and a little less thick (17.2mm vs. 17.6mm). Lighter and less thick is good for me.

With that said, I would still consider a CA in grey or black dial, they look like the ultimate tool watch IMO.
Happy hunting! :)

Thanks for the help so far. Any info out there on which year ranges various colors/dials were made? Liking the yellow with black subs, white with blue and saw a red with white (a bit over the top) think that was the longitude which is obviously a bit smaller and not in the AMarine/Avenger line up. Its hard to tell in pix but how hard are the dials to read when they are the same color? Must not be too tough since most are that way. Who's got pix of various M1, Seawolf Chono, Sixty-Nine? Is there a mechanical movement that has that dial/date placement? Is that some how movement specific?

I hear you on the Ti weight. My watch prior to the SteelFish was a Citizen Ti case/bracelet. Very comfortable. Sorry solar powered quartz for you purists. Sort of odd side note that Citizen; the clasp is one of the nicest most sturdy I have seen on any watch...not that I have seen all that many. Here is a pic or two...sorry if you just ate lunch...I think the face is WAY too busy.
