Good morning! I'm new to this forum and am wondering about the avatar/icons that some of you use. What does it mean to have "1/2 Ling" and "Full Ling" in your signature?

Hi, :welcome: aboard.
A description of a 'Full Ling' as per our glossary:

full ling: A Breitling watch that has a minimum lug width of 24mm and a diameter of at least 46mm and is accompanied by a metal bracelet, not a strap. This diameter applies to round Breitlings. Examples of full lings: Super Avenger, Bentley Motors, Navitimer World.

Judging by acceldebts recent postings it might have to be TT or gold and have a diamond bezel as well.

I don't know if the guitar playing, alligator strangling meglomaniac is listening, but it was acceldebt who coined the phrase - but he's never around to take responsability - too many alligators, so little time...

Broadly speaking it's any Breitling watch with a polished case and a metal bracelet...Panerai don't fall into this category (mercifully) - they're just "Gymnasium Wall Clocks" :D

Not always true,

Here's a watch that is OK to wear on an Alligator strap. Sportback if you get one of these I will strangle the Alligator to make the strap for you And Full Lings must be more than just polished and on a bracelet. They have to be at least 46 MM and have 24 MM lugs.

Driver8,

I see that your watch collection is IMPROVING. You are down to only having 1 LING on a Strap

Breitling Bentley Le Mans (Blue/Bracelet)
Breitling Bentley Motors (Black/Bracelet)
Breitling Navitimer World (Silver/Bracelet)
Breitling Super Avenger (White/Croco)
Breilting Super Avenger (Black/Bracelet)

Now if you would get that SICK strap off of the SA and replace it with a Pro 2 you will have really arrived !

Improving??? IMPROVING??!? No Ling man - the white dial SA is staying on the strap. It makes it suitably different to my black dial SA on the bracelet to justify the ownership of two identical pieces.

In fact, I now feel a little "strap deficient" since the blue Navi World left. I think I need either a white/silver dial 6.75 on black croco or a black dial Chronomatic 49 on black croco to even the tally a little.

On the subject of SA's on straps - one of the 2008 SAs that my AD had was on the Ocean Racer. If the strap had not been bright red that would have been a great combo - although of course with the earlier face to the SA.

Yeah,

Both of you guy's are in trouble now. Driver8 if you at least put the SA on a BLACK Croco instead of a Brown strap it would help "slightly" but lately I just don't know what to do about Admin. It's really discouraging because he's basically such a good kid. Now he's running around with Gymnasium Wall Clocks, talking about getting Lings with Rubber BEZELS AND RUBBER STRAPS and just falling apart on me. I think that soon I may have to gather together some of my henchmen and just show up in Canada and perform some CORRECTIONS. I have to say though that Driver8 has come a long way in the last 6 months but Admin is headed in the wrong direction now. This is getting like it was last year when I had to sit back and wait for him to get around to getting a Speed Bracelet for his Bentley. It's frustrating because for a while there I thought I had Brian on my side and now he's turning out to be a Democrat so I'm getting to the point where I'm just all alone here with the responsibility of straightening everybody out. It's lonely at the top ! I think that soon I'm going to have to seek help from Aeromansoor.

As Ive told you before (post got lost in the great Breitling Source Crash ) to me, rubber and leather are only acceptable in the privacy of your own home and with a consenting adult.
