While I await a few more pictures (mainly case back w/ serial), what are your expert thoughts on this piece? It appears to be a Venus 170 movement with a signed bridge, maybe a Reference 178 from the 50s? The dial looks too crisp to me and I'm unsure if hands are period correct either. Thanks!

I thought the same, but hard to say if it's a total franken or just replaced dial. Is it indeed a 178? (I'm more of an Omega guy so I'm new to these vintage Breitlings.. I will say, however, that his forum is AMAZING.. been hunting through old threads all morning. Some incredibly knowledgeable folks here!)

Need a look at the case back w/serial number and ref number.

Maybe a ref 173/178, s/n 656941 from 1946? Dial appears too clean to be original... but everything else looks legit.
