I'm looking for a bit of advice. :)

I have a NOS Breitling Chrono-Matic Superocean, circa late 60s/early 70s, and am struggling to get a clear picture of the value of it. When I say NOS, I mean still has the sticker on the back and is unworn.

I can only find one for sale and it is GBP £6,500 but not NOS, although looks to be in good condition.

Can anyone give me some guidance as to the value?

I'd say 5-6k US$ would be realistic market value today, there's a reason that GBP 6.5k watch hasn't sold ;)

the "big case" are lagging far behind other SO in value

$6000 USD is £5,000 landed in the UK.

Given that there is only one for sale in Europe and that is a pre-worn example for Euro 7,500 (which equates to c£6,500), I don't think a NOS watch is worth less.

I don't doubt that they are worth less than the other Superoceans but I wasn't expecting it to be worth 20-35,000, so no surprises there

"worth" isn't defined by a dealer's asking price, but by confirmed sales ;)

nope. a 2105

2005 have documented recent sales (Germany auction) of ca. $23k, several around 15k; would be a steal for 6k, whatever the currency ;)

Henry, a Mk2; decent, but not spectacular.
€15k hammer +24% fees, i.e. ca. $23k

I agree; however, I'd also suggest that you don't have access to every sale price of a 2105 within the last 12-months? If you have a crystal ball, I'd also appreciate the UK loto numbers for Wednesday

Where I would disagree is that dealer prices do not give an indication of market price. There are dealers who are willing to sit on stock but most need cash flow and therefore, they are unlikely to price things too ludicrously.

Furthermore, if the one in France sells tomorrow, does that suddenly change your opinion and make mine worth £7,500 or £8,500?

My question was, what is the current market value of a 2105 and how much of an uplift is there for NOS?

To be fair, you've come to this forum, asked a question, people have given their time and provided you some answers. Fred is certainly up there in the league of knowledgable Breitling folks, so I'm not sure why you're debating his answers. Why aren't you just saying Thank-you and moving along?

"so I'm not sure why you're debating his answers." - because it is a discussion forum.

"Fred is certainly up there in the league of knowledgable Breitling folks" - he may well be but his opinion is just that, an opinion. His opinion is also that both European dealers are wrong in their pricing; I would imagine that they would be prepared to argue from a position of knowledge as well. Basing your world view on one opinion is both naive and unwise.

"why aren't you just saying Thank-you and moving along?" - the topic has not been concluded nor have I been rude; therefore, I am not sure why you feel the need to lecture me on how to behave and how to handle the topic. It is neither warranted nor necessary.

The purpose was to get a value for insurance purposes. I was unable to find one that had sold recently, hence the question.
