VOTING NOW OPEN - viewforum.php?f=25

No comments in the voting threads please, just vote to keep things clean - feel free to start as many threads in the main Breitling section as you like.

I'll get all of round 1 up by the end of the day. No need for comments guys - just vote!

OK, so we have our 64 candidates. Here's my plan unless anyone has any better ideas.....

1) I'll go to random.org and use their sequence tool to get a random string of the numbers between 1 and 64. I am assuming that I will be trusted not to 'fix' the numbers.
2) I'll assign the numbers to the list that we have with the first number from random.org assigned to 1, second to 2 and so on.
3) I'll build the match ups based on random.org's #1 matches random.org's #64, 2 vs. 63, 3 vs. 62 etc
4) I think that I am going to have to create threads in the forum projects section for each one - it's a bit of a pain for the first round because it's 32 threads, but all of the online bracket tools seem to require sign up by everyone voting, not just by me to set it up. It'll get easier for rounds 2 onwards because there are fewer threads needed
5) I'll try to put the name and a picture of each watch in each thread and set the poll function for voting - I'm thinking that a week is plenty of time for voting
6) In the event of a tie we will repoll the tied for maybe 1 or 2 days
7) For round two we'll randomize again so starting from step #1 again.

I'll try and get round one up tomorrow, but no promises and it may have to go up in waves - polling will still be 7 days for each match up. I am away on business next week so round two may be delayed by a couple of days.

Let me know if you have any better ideas, or if you know of an online bracket tool that supports 64 entrants, voting to determine the winner, and doesn't need registration to vote.

Here are the round 1 match ups, I'll get the voting threads up as soon as I can:

You know I was actually concerned that people may think that I fixed a couple - 769 vs 784 / 785 for the vintage fans, 806 vs. Chronomat B01 could have been a final and then of course Evo vs. Calibre 13 is the classic old vs. new match up.

Roff, a suggestion . . .

How about a PM (or better yet email) to all members announcing the tournament and encouraging participation? IMO it would be more interesting to have votes from more than just the hardcore regulars . . . no offense to you hardcore regulars intended, of course.

Great idea, feel free to contact admin to see if he can do it (I can't) - and I'm kinda busy right now trying to get 32 polls built

Wow, with the links to the pictures as well, you're sure putting the effort in on this one Roff! (I bet 64 seemed like a really good number at the time!  )

There's a few "nasty" draws in there where I think it'll be a close run thing. A few favourites could go out "early doors"!

Good fun! :lingsrock:

OK...

They are all up, and my head hurts!

Let's try not to comment on the threads there please - we'll keep that 'pure' for voting and plenty of opportunity to discuss ones in this thread or in the Breitling section.

I know 31 of my votes, but darn that last match up is really tough for me - Unitime 260 vs. Navitimer 01

Quite the effort. A couple were really tough calls for me. Some that were not difficult, put me in the early but distinct minority. I actually voted for the TO Unitime :tmi: only because I had a demonstration and Breiltling incorporated some new technology with the time zone discs.

Yeah I'm really surprised by some of the early leaders. It's also pretty clear that there are going to be some that go right down to the wire.
