Right then, the box, I think you have helped to make my mind up, I am certainly not going to pay that sort of price for a box, yes it would be nice to have a box to match the period for the right price but to me it is becoming less essential now. I do have the booklet as shown in your picture.

I've had a lot of watches, some with boxes, some without. Never strapped a box to my wrist though.

Enjoy the watch and don't worry about it.

It might fit, but it's not original.

Bloody ell fellas, give us a little more help please, I have been told that my crown is on it's last legs so my restorer is going to pack it full of grease. I am going to buy another crown for the future but I don't know exactly which one I need. I don't want to make a frankenwatch can any of you supply or guide me so I can buy the correct part.

Thanks Phil

The original Navitimer crown measures 6.8 mm and have more teeth.

finding an original one will be very difficult.

what to do with the dial: enjoy it. There is nothing wrong with the dial, very nice.

great watch !
It looks like the sliderule ring does not have any red mark and red 60 and 10 , and the dial does ?
The correct sliderule rings are offered on Ebay from time to time and the 'correct' replicated lizard straps as well by Bill on Ebay

Thanks fellas, Dracha if you look at my before pictures on page 1 you can see that the number 10 on the sliderule does have the red box around it but it is very faded. Kurt seems to think that the sliderule is original, I not sure what you mean with the number 60 (picture would help).

I am very pleased with the results and the patina of the face is lovely it's a creamy colour and it dosen't come out well on the photo's. My restorer didn't want to do to much with the face of the watch and I think that was the right descision, there is slight damage to the some of the sliderule markers but I think I can live with that.

I have documented this watch to give it back some history, this watch will not come up for sale, I will be handing it down to my son, I have taken some quotes from Roff and Kurt from page 1 on it's authenticity ( I will gladly email Roff & Kurt my documentation if you are uneasy with this).

Finally I would like to thank all of you chaps  for your expertise and knowledge, I need another project now I have loved researching and reading about all your watches, I need to find an AVI/CO PILOT, but I don't think I am going to be so lucky again.

Regards Phil
