Just to make sure, it's real - right?

What do you folks reckon it is worth? It's almost one year old.

It's real and pricing advice is the same as always, #2 here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_faq.shtml#8

:real:
There are no replicas using the large min/sec chronograph hands in the ETA 251.xxx movement

I think the main reason the old hands here don't attempt to make valuations is there are so many variables.

Age? Condition? Service history? Paperwork? Location? Reputation of seller? Scarcity? Demand?

Take location for example. A watch in the UK which is priced at £1000 would cost $1500 in the USA if £1=$1.50 but if the exchange rate moves to £1=$1.80, the watch would cost $1800. Yet it's exactly the same watch. Currency fluctuations, along with import duty/tax/shipping/insurance mean that any attempt to value a watch in another country than your own is a nightmare.

Of course, the biggest varialbe of all is whether you're buying or selling. There usually tends to be rather a large difference in valuation!

Ok, that's clear. But you know most of these things, right? You are familiair with the watch, can see it's complete with all papers, know it's about 1 year old. Anyway, thanks for your help. Really appreciated.

its worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay

When I was in the market for a B-1, I tracked every sale on eBay for about 6 months. At that time, I could have given you a pretty good estimate for any age/condition B-1. As a result, I picked one up for about £400 below what I considered the market value.

Unless someone on here is tracking the exact model you're after, it's unlikely anyone will have so much detail.

That said, if you want a ballpark, one year old with papers = list -40& or thereabouts.

And there in lies the problem.

While some people delight in criticising me for referring to the FAQs on pricing, I get a lot of public and private requests for pricing advice and then I get people complaining to me that after they bought / sold that they saw one sell for more / less and that I had misled them. I have even had someone dig up my phone number and telephone to complain.

Frankly, I don't need to deal with that. If pricing on something is not readily available, that's one thing, but Breitlings are bought and sold in the secondary market on a regular basis and there are many, many online data points to use for reference.
