I received a Breitling Skyracer for my birthday in July this year, it was bought in Weirs Jewelers on Grafton St. in Dublin Ireland. I rang them as the strap was too large and they informed me they would adjust it free of charge. I was delighted as i couldn't wear the watch and brought it up to the shop still in the original box, i hadn't even worn it. When i gave it to the guy i explained that i hadn't set it yet although i had read the instructions. He said he'd do it and set time and date and then wound it about 10 times. I suggested that the instructions said that it should be wound 40 times the first time and he replied "Don't mind that" he then left to adjust the strap and walked off swinging my new unworn watch around his finger like it was an elastic band or something, i could have split him but chose to stay calm and say nothing. Also on wednesday i rang the shop and spoke to a girl in watch department to enquire about the free Baseball cap with first purchase, she said she never heard of it, i asked would she enquire and she said she would call me back on thursday, haven't heard anything since.
In contrast, i visited Lynns Jewelers in Belfast to get the strap adjusted a little more. They took the watch away on a cushion and offered me tea or coffee while i waited. Couldn't have been any nicer.
I know where i'll be buying my next watch!!!

Unfortunately a lack of respect amongst certain watch stores is quite common Niall. I get EXTREMELY irritated how some of these jokers treat customer's watches.

A while back I had a blue Navi World on blue Croco and the strap seemed a little loose at the lugs, so after a few months I eventually got round to taking it into an AD to get them to see if there was a problem with it - I thought they may have attached it with the thinner spring bars from a bracelet instead of the strap bars.

Anyway, I'm a very careful person when it comes to my watches, and my World was in mint condition even though I was wearing it at the time about 4 or 5 times a week, and yet this idiot in the shop managed to scratch the underside of both lugs by taking the strap off within a minute of handling it. That clown did more damage within a minute than I had managed by wearing it for about 6 months! I was NOT best pleased.

I also find a lot of AD's have this really irritating affliction of CONSTANTLY winding your watch while they're handing it! I know it's not going to do any damage, but it just irritates me. It makes me want to say, "Leave it the f*** alone! I'll wind my own watch thanks!"

And another thing I hate is that when I go and try on a watch I tend to lay my watch on it's side when I take it off, and yet a lot of AD's will then move my watch and "push it over" so that the caseback clatters onto the inside of the bracelet. If you lay it down like that all the time the clasp can scratch the caseback - hence I've just got into the natural habit of not laying it down in that way. Again, I just want to say to them, "Get your hands off my watch"! A lot of them need to get it into their heads that your watch is NOT their property, and they should treat it accordingly.

(Yes I'm very anal over this kind of thing, so forgive me for slightly hijacking your thread with this rant! )

Ha! I had these exact feelings about the last AD visit I had. I just wanted to yell, quit winding the dam thing already!!

Weird,
I've been to the Weir's in Dublin a couple of times and have found them very good. A lot of times it's the salesperson and not the AD that is at fault
