Hi,

I recently bought a breitling. could any one tell me how to find the model name and its genuinity? on the back of the dial i could find something as 4538G i suppose this is the model code. can any one give me the picture of the genuine one. I was not able to find it in the All models list in this forum.

THanks,
Waseem

Can you post some pictures? I don't recognise the number - is it a recent watch or an older model?

The list is pretty comprehensive for teh more modern watches, and Admin is doing a great job with the special editions as well. There are many older watches that aren't listed here yet, but as I said in my first post - we really need pictures to be able to help you out. Put some pics up and we'll soon tell you which model or if it is a fake.

The list is far from complete.. it is simply as close as I can get and I slowly add peices to it as time permits (and as i find them).

Like Roff said, Post pics, we can probably help you better that way.

Again, pictures would be quite helpful. I searched the web for your combination, but the only thing that comes up is your question in six different Yahoo groups. If you can't provide a picture, are you completely sure that "4538G" is the only thing that is engraved? With just that information, I doubt that anyone can guarantee authenticity.

Well if we can't get pictures then let's try this:

Does it have subdials - if so where and how many?
Does it have day / date / moonphase / similar complications - if so which and where?
Does it have any writing on the face - if so what?
Are there any additional rings of numbers around the outside of the dial and if so what are they labeled?
Does it have a bezel and if so does it turn both ways or just to the left?
What is written on the bezel (if it has one)?
How many buttons does it have?
Does it have a screw down crown - is the crown cone shaped or flat?
Is it on a strap or a bracelet - if bracelet how many links (width) - 3, 5 or 7?
What is the diameter of the watch (excluding crown)?
What is the distance from lug to lug?
What exactly is stamped on the caseback - is it only 4538G or is there something else?

Answers to these will probably result in many more questions, but without pics I don't know what else to suggest.

Without pics, it is 100% impossible for us to tell you whether or not it is real, that is the reality of it.. Sorry. Answering Roffensian's questions will definately help, but it sounds like you might have a vintage model based on the type of engraving.

Agreed - the best we can do is try and identify the model - but I tend to agree with Admin that it sounds like a vintage, and even then (let's be generous) one that has a replacement caseback - that isn't any Breitling model number I've ever heard of.
