Got some more info about the exhibition today, which takes place from Nov 15-17. Apparently almost the whole main floor will be devoted to watch displays only. All the display cases, including the ones not normally used for watches, will be displaying watches for this event. Even Longines and Tissot representatives will be there, with their watches, these are two makes that are not presently being sold at Birks, at least in the Vancouver store. All of the watches on display will also be available for purchase. The new Cartier range will be there as well as a lot of unusual - and unusually expensive - pieces. The presidents from some of the corporations will be on hand as well.
I am personally hoping that I will, at long last, be able to see a Longines Weems Second-Setting which, if it looks anything like on the website, is one of the loveliest-looking pieces I have ever seen. I think it retails for about $4500. in the US, but I'm not sure. I expect it will be around $5000. or more in Canada. Does anybody know, or has anyone ever seen this
watch?
I know I am repeating this post of the Birks exhibition, but when I talked to them today I realized it is really going to be even more of an event than I first realized. It hasn't had much, if any, publicity yet.
The new Birks catalogue is out, and I got a copy in the store. They have a very enticing new line of their own called Birks RPM Sport Collection. There are 4 different models that I can see, ranging from $795 - 1395.
I am quite excited about this event.
Cheers,
Carl

On a (kinda) related note, I got an invitation from La Swiss on Bloor in Toronto to their 'holiday event' - November 6th at 6pm. Invite had the Zenith Defy Extreme on the front, but no details of exactly what the event is all about.
