...I'd just like to tell you about my evening yesterday.

Along with 15 other Panerai nuts, I was invited by my local (Toulouse) AD Phillipe Déro to a meal yesterday evening. Emmanuella the directrice of Panerai France was there with a dozen or so of the watches we rarely see 'in the flesh' and we had a really memorable evening talking not just Panerai, but watches.

I had threatened to, and I did, wear my Bentley - just to wind them up a little, and it was with enormous pleasure that I was able to corner Phillipe and Emanuella fairly early on and thank them both for inviting me to a Breitling evening (at which point I drew back my cuff and showed off the Bentley) - deathly hush - then I drew back the other cuff and showed them the 'Destro' 219 I'm so proud of!! Great fun - they're still talking to me, so I can't have cocked it up too much...

Anyway, great food (aside from the miniscule portions...) and great company - we all came away with Panerai parting gifts - catalogs etc, and a really nice cream linen shirt (of all things!!)

When we went to collect our cars we were all drooling over a brand new DB9 convertible - until one of the guys at my table went over and drove off in it - who would have thought...

Have a great day everyone

Cool story! Too bad none of the dealers here are even close to that generous.. maybe they have tighter margins here in Canada. Would explain the lack of knowledgable staff at some of the La Swiss locations :?

I'm not a big fan of Aston Martins.. but they are nice cars. The kind of remind me of glorified Jaguars.

Jaguars are pieces of crap :nono:

They drive nice and look amazing but poorly engineered, no reliability whatsoever!!! Especially in harsher conditions (cold or hot)

Although of course the DB9 and the XKR are essentially the same car!

I enjoy their design but would never contemplate getting another one ever again. As far as im concerned its a German-Japanese world when it comes to Autos.
