Rumors of a new Submariner?

Why would they want to change their best selling watch?

Having seen the pictures, the bracelet looks like a copy of the Omega Aqua Terra. The links look good, but the clasp still somewhat crappy compared to a Pilot bracelet.

I disagree - the one I tried on was quite definately a very sold piece of work - and I'd have to say every bit as good as my Pilot bracelet...but then what do I know

Probably because it is starting to look a little old these days. Don't get me wrong, it is an absolute icon, but all things need to move with the time, and as my AD said the other day "A few years ago Rolex were streets ahead of other watch makers, but they have missed a trick over the last few years and are now behind the times as a complete package". Basically, the bracelet and clasp are crap compared to others such as Breitling.

On the last post, I agree with you Sportback that IMO the new GMT bracelet and clasp are superb. They keep the essence and look of the old bracelet, but much more sturdy and well engineered.

Well, the 50th Anniversay Rolex Submariner went today. Sold to a local watch dealer for a very good price. (A little less than I paid for it, but then the green bezel prices have slipped a little recently, so not too bad). AND the good news is it gives me a sudden extra few pounds to buy another Breitling with!! Decisions, decisions......
