Post subject:  Chopard and the 7750

I am patiently waiting for my Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Chrono to arrive!

I do not know why, but Chopard intrigues me for some reason, maybe I just like how the name sounds but also the use of the Valjoux 7750 movement which has quite a history and seems like a venerable movement, nothing too fancy but just durable and functional and with COSC certification.

This particular article was very informative https://www.calibre11.com/history-eta-7 ... alibre-16/ not just about the 7750 but about the entire watch movement business and industry. I had no idea of the politics etc. A good read.

This has to be my last one.

Just figured I would post an update for a wild watch journey.

So after about a month long wait, the Chopard made it to the Los Angeles UPS sort facility and then mysteriously disappeared. Then the very frustrating process of putting in a claim for a lost package ensued and because this was a high value package it took twice as long as usual to get the claim processed. Lesson learned that whenever you purchase an expensive item online, pay the extra fee for overnight shipping as there are tighter controls and better logistics. I had opted for the "free shipping" but never again.

So once my claim was finalized I took the opportunity to order a different Chopard: I got the power control Mille Miglia with the in house Caliber 1.08.c. I had a lot of time to rethink my purchase and I concluded that I was highly overpaying for the package for a fairly inexpensive (but very good) ETA 7750 movement. I am all about nostalgia but I found out my wife's Speedmaster has a 7750 based movement so I am fine that we have one.

So I think it all worked out for the best, as I really love my new Chopard and this one has the exhibition back which the other one did not.
