Just wanted to prompt a discussion on what you think of the following article on what he believes is the hierarchy of watches

http://www.devonbuy.com/watch-brand-hierarchy/

You will note it is a 2013 article but on doing a bit of surfing on the net, I failed to find a 2016 version. (any assistance there?)

Do you agree or disagree...?

Not sure why I've only just seen this thread.... and I'm also not sure why it's garnered absolutely zero responses on here!

So anyway after reading it, I must say I think it's pretty much a work of lunacy! The guy's got quite a few right - for example Patek, Lange, AP, VC in the very top tier, and Timex and Casio in the bottom - but apart from that he's made some insanely weird groupings along the way!

For example - Bremont in Tier 1a and in the same group as Greubel Forsey and Roger Dubuis?? IWC in the very top tier (Tier 1) along with Patek, Lange, AP, Blancpain and Breguet??? Bulgari and Chanel above Rolex, Panerai and Omega??? Rolex in the same group as U-Boat??? Eh??? :huh

I know these hierarchy things are always rather subjective, but I think that if you're going to put one together and stick it out there on the internet, at least have a bit of an idea what you're doing!

not sure about the groupings as well. might have made more sense to break this up into in house movements vs non. totally agree with you Roff. not sure how Rolex ends up in the same category as u boat???

every one has an opinions and we all know what people say about opinions...lol

Because absolutely no one cares about how some person with a website classifies watches ?
We're all grownups and informed and can make up our own minds how to sort and classify what we like ;-)

Well that sure told me! Just seemed like a fairly fun thread that I thought might've sparked some discussion/lighthearted repartee...
