Came across this today -

http://monochrome-watches.com/introduci ... -movement/

The Pelagos is a superb watch (I tried one on a few weeks ago, and the fit and finish is excellent), but as I don't like paying the big-bucks for non-house movement equipped watches these days, I passed on it. But this new version now IS equipped with an in-house movement.....but the even better news is that it will apparently cost just $275 more than the out-going ETA-equipped model!

Personally, I think the Pelagos is a far less obvious choice than a Submariner for a classic 3 hand diver... but now Tudor can finally compete in terms of movement too.

Can't wait to try this one on when it's released in July.

I think it's a great step forward. I also love the new blue color that came out. Pretty cool stuff!

Agree completely - and unfortunately makes the $9,000 for an in house Breitling three hander seem even more outrageous.

Great looking watch! It looks especially good on the rubber strap with those endlinks.

Now that is a properly priced 3 hander. Just slightly less than $9k.....

Even the new in house North Flag is only priced around $3700 on the bracelet seems like a great deal.

I'm a big fan of the blue Pelagos. I don't really need another blue dial but if I did, this would be first on my list.

There's a black version as well.

I think the Pelagos now takes the role the Sub used to have long ago, as the piece you actually take diving. And the minimal added cost of in-house is just amazing. I know Rolex has an infrastructure to do this like no other, but the difference makes every other big brand look silly or greedy.

While I don't absolutely love it at first glance, I like and appreciate it. I think the hands are just a tad big for me however also realize that this is for the purposes of function, as big hands will help with actually being underwater. I guess I'm biased towards my PO, which I do actually use when diving. What I do appreciate is the in-house movement and price tag, which puts other brands to shame. I also think the black version is awesome, and would lean in that direction more than the blue. I do look forward to trying this one on in the flesh.

Yes, I don't really warm to the design but absolutely agree with all the points made here about horological bang for buck.

I'm more interested in the Pelagos Blue. The left handed is not for me .

No I didn't. I went off the Pelagos a little when I found out it was grade 2 ti instead of grade 5. I find grade 2 a little too scratch-happy. Personally I find the new in-house Black Bays an even better proposition than the pelagos..... if you can live without a date of course.
