Whats the history behind Porcelain Ceramic Dials and since they don't fade why aren't they utilized more often!

The Bentley in the middle is with porcelain dial. It looks great in person.. it's something special... but gentle.. i guess.

Bentley dial is not porcelain.

Porcelain was expensive to produce and had high breakage rates before ever being installed. As watches moved from dress pieces stored relatively safely in vest pockets to more functional daily wrist pieces porcelain became less and less practical. At the same time metal treatments and automated processes made other methods of dial production / materials more practical.
