Great topic Scott.

I've put some thought into this but, as I am leaving for two weeks vacation tonight, I'm under a bit of a time crunch, hence no pictures:

1. Breitling 1903 - shocker I know. I love this watch, it was my introduction to fine timepieces and I can't imagine a watch collection without it. About $6,500 on Chrono24;
2. Blancpain 50 fathoms auto. This is my 'sporty beater'. While I love my PO, I would upgrade to the Blancpain if I was willing to pay the extra. This also assumes it's not too big. If it was then the PO or Rolex Submariner Ceramic. About $11,000 via grey market (authenticwatches);
3. Omega Professional Moonwatch. Just a classic. About $3,500 from multiple sites (authenticwatches for one).

Those 3 for $21,000?

Yup.

SDC $10,400 - 15% = $8,840
DSOM $12,000 - 20% = $9,600
Total = $18,440

Leaving me with $2,560 for the colt which I can get for 30% off. Don't know MSRP on colt but I would bet $2,560 is right in the ball park.

+1 but can you get 15% off on SDc now?

And now its time to go completely off the board.

I saw this last night on Watch Recon for $13800. I wish I hadn't. I know it has a brown dial but , man...

2. One of our commercial sellers has this listed at $1175. Done, and I'll take the pic down if its a problem.

Okay, this is a bit like my current IWC. I passed one of these up years ago and kicked myself for it for some time. Listed in January by another one of the commercial sellers who post here for $3400

Image

That leaves $2625. I need a blue watch. Ok, blue ceramic seamaster, used, can I make it under the cap? One sold on WUS for $2650. YES FOR $25 I'M BREAKING MY OWN RULES. Deal with it.

All for now. My wife just came in and asked what I was doing. She told me it was like giving a gambling addict a pair of dice.

First choice would be a SubC

Image

Next choice would be to pick up a slightly used one of these, the Speedmaster 57.

Image

Last pick would be a preowned Master Ultra Thin Moon.

Image

These 3 should be around $21,000.

I actually gave this a lot of thought, perhaps too much, and came to a conclusion. I am completely satisfied with the three I have now, so for me I would just get new versions of the same watches. I would get a black dial 6.75 on the Speed bracelet, for around 6800. Second, would be a Transocean Unitime Pilot, black dial for around 7500 and third would be a Chronomat GMT but this time i think I would go with the black dial with white subs for right around 7 large. Sorry for being "boring" or "not creative enough" but thats my story and I'm sticking to it! :D

p.s. I'll add the pics tomorrow :nana: :lingsrock:

All the following prices can be found for the following watches through this and one or two other forums. Patience is key!

Breitling Super Avenger II - $3300
Breitling Navitimer - $3900
Breitling Bentley GT Racing Chronograph - $3850
Breitling Superocean Heritage - $2500
Panerai 113N Series Luminor - $4875
Bell & Ross BR03-92 - $1975
Seiko Orange Monster - $150

I still have $450 left! Looking at the list, it's very Breitling heavy. I'd probably consider dropping the Bentley and using the $4300 on something else.

OK, for me, it'd be -

Panerai 275 (available from $12k on Chrono24). I'm a big Panerai fan, and the 275 is my favourite model by some margin. In fact it's one of my all time favourite watches, period.
http://www.paneraisource.com/watch_deta ... ra_65.html

Omega Ploprof 1200m (available from $6k on Chrono24). As many of you will know, the Ploprof is also one of my (if not THE) favourite watches of mine.
http://www.houseofwatches.co.uk/omega-m ... tAodTmgAPw

Breitling Superocean Steelfish black dial (available from circa $2k on Chrono24). One of the finest divers Breitling have ever produced IMO. I've owned 3 in the past and would love to add one to the collection again.

Any left over would go on a G-Shock GW-4000. I already own this watch (although I put it on the resin strap instead) and it's a superb aviation G-Shock.

i think that i would go with these 3

1) use rolex 16660

2) Rolex 116710 BLNR

3) Rolex 116610 LVC

all three would be pre owned and would come in under 21k.

I had to take one more run at this. No time for pics right now, but these were all pieces on the forums for sale over the last couple of weeks:

Rolex GMT II "coke"bezel--$5000
Omega Speedmaster--2500
Last generation Navitimer blue dial arabics--4050
Reverso Grand Taile silver dial--4700
IWC Portuguese silver dial gold indices--4800

Darn-- I blew it by $50 again. I don't care. I would love this combination.

Scott, you beat me to the Breguet! Also Roff, your choices are crazy, but I oddly appreciate your wacky watch fetish.

This is actually a really great thread and I've thought about this quite often. The issue I have with the 3 watch requirement is that with only $21k, I wouldn't buy 3 watches. I'd need about $26k to properly get the three watches I'd want.

1. Breguet Type XXI Transatlantique Flyback- $9,676
http://www.prestigetime.com/item/Bregue ... 2~sz9.html

2. Glashutte Original PanoMaticLunar- $9,350
http://www.prestigetime.com/item/Glashu ... 32-05.html

If I could go slightly above $21k, then I'd include this as well:

3. Navi 01

Blackbird Big Date.
Rolex GMTc 2tone black/gold/steel,
Colt Auto 2,
OG chronomat 2tone maybe a D

Cool thread. I would also consider an Avenger GMT vs the Colt Auto 2 and OG Chronomat. That being said if I had 21 right now for a new watch it would prob be a solid gold GMTc to go with my existing collection.

Used Breguet transatlant type xxti on a strap(my chrono) $6000

Image
Used Jaeger grande reverso gmt w/power reserve (my dress and dual time zone)$6500

Image
Used vacheron overseas 37mm (my sports watch)$6500

Image
Vintage rolex 1601/16010 white dial (my every day beater)$2000
If the rules state i have to have a breitling in the collection i would swap the rolex for a used colt auto and divi up the leftover money between the others for accessories.

Dead easy one for me if I had to do it again. It would definitely be the first three Breitling models with the inhouse 01 Cal movement and all three in Limited Edition version with the display backs.
The Trifecta or One Heart, Three Legends as Breitling calls them.
If I had to liquidate my collection, these three would definitely be the last ones to go.
Naturally it would be very difficult if not impossible to find them new these days so I would most certainly have to resort to the pre-loved ones at Chrono24, eBay or the watch forums sales corners.
That being the case I would most likely have a few a Dollars left over and that would most likely be spent on the less than usual Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 35th Anniversary LE.
I have a lot of respect for the speedy and the less than common panda dial plus the very unique sapphire case back makes this one even more special for me at least.
So, if I could squeeze these four down to $21K and I was not allowed anything else, I believed I could be relatively content.
