Well I finally am having my Flieger-style watch itch scratched! I decided to go with the Damasko DA36. I'll write up my first hand impressions after it arrives.

This feeling of anticipation never gets old. :D

Nice, very clean readable dial. The yellow seconds is a cool touch.

Aren't these the ones with the special steel and shielded to 1000 G ?

Very nice Ian. Damasko is a very under appreciated brand and is getting truly innovative - their silicon hairspring / lubrication free escapement is a real step forward for 'every day' brands, and of course they became a manufature earlier this year, even though most of their movements are 'normal'.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with my choice and plan on writing something up with all the details and some terrible photos. As Roff correctly points out, Damasko has tried to to make a name for itself lately with their use of materials.

The DA36 uses something called "ice-hardened" steel which is nickel free. A as result, the case is susceptible to magnetization. Damasko solves this issue by using an inner shield mode of soft iron which protects the movement. This is actually a traditional feature on Flieger watches.

Nice one Ian. They don't much more "tool" than Damasko.

Personally I'm very interested to see the DK10 with the new in-house A35 movement. No official price yet, but could be around 2999 Euros. Pretty good for what you get.

I'll be interested to see how your DA36 is in the metal. Be sure to post some pics! :D

Congratulations Ian and thank you for introducing me to another watch brand I've not yet heard of. Looks like a classic indeed. I look forward to your review!
