Hi guys. Looking for a watch for an anniversary present. I'm looking for a ladie's watch with a budget of about $2000. Bracelet is preferred, and does not need to be automatic. I'm looking for a more aesthetically pleasing piece for this purchase. Thanks for the help guys.

Are you thinking Breitling or general - it just sounds general but you've posted in the Ladies Breitling section - not sure if I should move?

For Breitling the Colt Oceane fits quite nicely to that budget, Starliner and Cockpit Lady (both being discontinued in favour of comparable galactics) are going to be slightly more money.

Thanks Roff. I'm not necessarily looking for a Breitling, so please move the thread to a more necessary location. Thanks.

Dont forget a Colt Ocean II from concideration. I bought my lovely wife one for an everyday watch and she loves it. Its on a Diver Pro strap and I think I paid something around $1500 US, so on a bracelet it may be under $2000. I would definitely check it out.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so it's hard to recommend a specific brand. All I would say is to stick to quartz. Girls do not appreciate winding up watches!

Check out Cartier, chicks go bonkers for that brand. I guess the name has a magical effect on them.

I suppose the status and image of the luxury brand name appeals to women as much as history and military connection appeal to men.

I agree that chicks do dig the Cartier thing, but it can be quite a challenge to find them for under $2000. You can often find them used in excellent condition for well under $2k, but new is quite difficult.

Of the Breiting line, the Starliner is a great women's watch, but it far beyond your price range, unfortunately. The Colt Oceane Lady is the cheapest, but is more of an acquired taste for women, I think, because it still looks more like a tool watch than an elegant lady's one. The Cockpit Lady can be beaten down to near $2k if purchased on a strap, and is a very fine looking model according to She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed.

Another brand to seriously consider is Baume et Mercier. Although watch snobs are lukewarm to the brand, their Hampton, Hampton Milleis, and Diamant lines are absolute women's classics. They are kind of like the Omega Seamaster or Rolex Submariner but for women: iconic, timeless designs that will never go out of style.

And at the risk of getting some flack, I would also suggest some TAG Heuer women's models like the Aquaracer Ladies. I personally prefer Baume to TAG, but you with discount you can even get a diamond bezel in the AR Ladies for close to $2k.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Keep them coming! I'm looking into the omega constellations, and thanks for the recommendation on the Baume Mercier. I think something like this works very nicely, and definitely better than a Tag AR.

Yes, that is a nice one!

My wife has a Hampton Milleis Mini (which I think they now call a "Hampton Classic") which you can see in a "family photo" on this thread: http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15263

Also, if you get the Mini/Classic model, they are very small but you can even get diamonds for under $2K: http://www.authenticwatches.com/8681.html. IMHO the stainless models are just as stunning as the gold, in fact, people often mistake them for white gold.

The ladies definitely like Cartier. A quartz Tank Francaise might fit the bill.

A bit down the scale, Longines Dolce Vita range has some good Cartier-style stuff. This for example:

Ah, how could I have forgotten Longines?! Yes, the DolceVita is a great line, and a good value for the quality. They are priced a little cheaper than Baumes (although I think the build quality is slightly less as well...at least judging from the feel of the bracelet). Prestige Time currently has a sale on a few of them. You can get a MOP with 32 diamonds for under $1900: http://www.prestigetime.com/item/Longines/DolceVita-Quartz-Ladies/L5.155.0.84.6.html

Prestige Time also has a few Cartiers on sale...but it's still tough to get a Tank for under $3k.

This is the one my wife selected. I ordered it last Friday. She tried watches from Breitling to Hublot and this is the one she fell in love with. Tag Formula 1 ladies Diamond Chrono.

You're lucky she didn't fall in love with the Hublot. I doubt that's in the price range you're looking at . . .

The Colt Oceane needs to be seen on the wrist. That´s when it comes to life. It doesn´t look like much on the showcase. My wife went nuts when she tried it on. Now nothing else will do for her. Not even the Starliner.

From Breitling there´s also the choise of some smaller mens watches like the Super Ocean Heritage 38 or Colts. I´ve seen a lot of women wear them or similar sized models. It seems to be trendy, not elegant though.

It´s been said before that women go for the fashion brands and Gucci is one of the more desired ones.
