Hi guys - and thanks for the good wishes

Got back last night - and yes, it was a little wet in the UK - most of it seemed concentrated in London, but it didn't stop us having a great time. Just for a laugh I went to Harrods to see what Panerai they had in stock - three measly 'hard to sell' Luminors - very sad...

First stop easily the best burgers in London...

Image

Followed by a walk around Covent Garden - very festive!

Image

Tower Bridge was one of those 'been meaning to visits' since I was a kid

Image

And no, it wasn't raining

Image

A friend of mine actually got married here...(St Pauls Cathedral if you didn't recognise it)

Image

Always been a sucker for a nice bum...(ask my girlfriend!)

Image

The Natural History Museum is as good on the outside...

Image

...as on the inside!

Right - now to read what I've missed these last few days - oh yes, it seems my Rolex was delivered here on Friday, but as I wasn't here in person, it's waiting at a local post office - I'll have to wait until 9am to be able to pick it up - pictures later

Have a great week - I fully intend to!!!!

I have to admit I'm not an expert on burgers in London, but I found those really yummy!! (Better than any I ever ate when I lived in Saudi, all those years ago...)

I do not know if they stack up to Batrik's Burgers (Riyadh) but they are definately comparable.

So you lived in Saudi? That's a coincedence! Let me guess Aramco guy?

Oh I see, I am an IT guy so I am not familiar with that company.

If by some unfortunate circumstances you find yourself back here let me know and we can talk watches to take our minds off the heat.

Those pics you posted got me riled up, I actually really enjoy London, I will be there in late January for an Adobe conference. Really looking forward to the trip!

I was in exploration, so I'm not surprised you wouldn't know of it - besides which, the name has changed - they're part of the Schlumberger Group now I think....

I remember once, way way back, coming out of work one afternoon and seeing three pallets loaded with boxes, just sitting on the concrete infront of the main doors of the building. Upon closer inspection, the boxes were labelled ROLEX....

It turns out they were the 5, 10 and 15 year anniversary 'awards' for ARAMCO workers - from 'base' submariners, to solid gold versions (we discovered later) - there must have been over 100 watches, just sitting there in the sun, waiting for someone to move them inside. I would've helped if I wasn't afraid of losing a wrist....

Oh Shlumberger! Yeah I know THAT company.

I am up for a Tag Heur Carrera or on Omega SMP next year as my service award, another five for a Rolex GMT Master IIc or a Breitling 6.75, I have both of the latter so I hope they change the selection before then. Maybe a Daytona or a Mulliner.........

Crime is low here, but they do not actually cut off people's wrists! As I am sure there is no witch burning in modern Europe!

Where did you get your watches?? Did you get any of them from over here? There are some savings to be made compared to Europe!!

I purchased my Submariner in downtown Al Khobar (still got the bill !) in 1978 (yeah, yeah, so I'm old...) and the next watch purchase was last year in London when I bought my first Breitling (the Evo)

So you went 28 years without buying a single watch, then you got 8 in one year?

The Natural History Museum looks just as I remember from the days of school coach trips.

Great pics, sportback, thanks for the post!
